Re: 1200 coupe z18et project
Today had some progress. I slapped in a new injector and rewired the plug on another injector and she starts up and runs on all four! It misses like a pig and runs like general crap at the moment though. I need to connect up the laptop and get all the timing sorted and the fuel mixtures. hopefully i'll get a little bit of that done this weekend.
Also took it into muzzas muffles today to get the exhaust done. I'm getting 2 and a half the whole way but also a screamer pipe the whole way to the rear of the car also. And it should be made in time for the weekend too hopefully!
also saw a few sicko dattos while i was getting towed back into town! a sick roadstar, 180b and andys 1200! they all looked super rad! big ups!

Sweet timing, I'm sure they were pleased to see your ride out on the road.
Any chance this will be tuned by the 28th?

Re: 1200 coupe z18et project
Done a couple of little things over the last few days, had to remake the driveshaft hoop because it hit the driveshaft really badly haha.. also had to diconnect my heater and just block my heater lines because they were pissing out water for some reason.. will sort that later.. also sorted the timing a little bit but just moving the CAS, but its still quite retarted due to the "safe" base tune, is also very rich at the moment..
anyway, after you leave it running for a while and it gets warm, the ecu changes its tune and then it runs alright, still very rough but good enough for a little drive. It takes a while to make boost in first, but when you hit second after reving out first its just massive wheelspin! so rad! I didnt have much road to play with but was still super fun! But now it seems like it has a massive vacuum leak, because it idles at about 4000, but hopefully i'll sort that tomorrow too. i think it might just be the BOV crapping itself.
Hopefully will be giving it a decent tune tomorrow after I put an O2 in the dump pipe. will take some videos if all goes well too!
peace!

Re: 1200 coupe z18et project
Well, had a day full of failures today haha!
It started off with my mate mike running a bearing on his 3sgte kp60 starlet.. then we went to work with the coupe with the intention of welding on the fitting for an O2 sensor, but we lost the fitting and were looking for it for at least an hour, and then we realised it was on the front support panel in the engine bay haha..
then after a mid day wakeskate we went out to his farm in Tuamarina where we were going to tune the coupe, but we couldnt get the laptop connected to it because I can't find where to change the COM ports and baud rate on windows 7..
then went for a good thrash in the coupe, and after some limiter bashing in second it popped a ridiculas amount of oil out of somewhere and coated pretty much everywhere in oil.. even the roof haha!
then after figuring that the dip stick was popping out, we tied that down, cleaned up the oil and went for another drive.. and about ten seconds into some nice wheelies it popped another massive load of oil out of somewhere.. and power was cut to the computer.. and a little fire started from the oil on the extractors, but it went out pretty quick which is pretty handy...
so we ended up taking it back to the shed and leaving it for the night.. hopefully i'll sort all the crap out tomorrow and it'll be wheelie time!
But I am actually dumbfounded to where the oil has come from.. There is no oil down the sides of the motor, its not leaking out any gaskets, but there is oil all over the windscreen, the rocker covers, inlet plenum, up to about the windscreen, and all over the turbo and extractors.. I don't see how so much oil can come out so quickly and cover such a large area... ohwell!
and then to finish off the night, a mate took us for a quick spin in his fiat uno, which is actually surprisingly quick! and when we happened to be going 140, a cop went past and he lost his licence..
happy days haha!

Re: 1200 coupe z18et project
Oh man that is some bad luck alright! Hope you can sort this oil issue out, could it be an oil line on the back of the turbo or something like that? I havnt had my CA going yet but just trying to think of places where oil could escape from.
Re: 1200 coupe z18et project
If the dipstick is popping out it sounds like you are either pressurising the sump with boost or your PCV system isn't working at all.

Where do you have the breather hoses off the cam covers plummed to?
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
