The new paper gasket for the wastegate wasn't going to last very long so I bought a strip of 0.7mm copper sheet from Little Metals and made a new gasket on the mill, took all afternoon as I was having trouble with the tool tables which I've never used before but I got there in the end and it looks really good.

I bought a couple of spare FJ inlet manifolds to muck around with, thought I'd try fitting RB26 throttle bodies to one of them, it's good to start out with a factory manifold as I can add the throttle bodies and retain the original injector positions/mounts as the RB throttle bodies don't have provisions for injectors. The FJ runners centre to centre are a pretty good match for RB26/DCOE throttle bodies and carbs. I bought another FJ carb manifold as well.

I've still got to machine them back heaps as my hack sawing/grinding to remove the factory plenum wasn't that flash, probably have to take off another 5mm or so to get them flat and even, might have to shorten them even more than that depending on the new plenum dimensions.

Swapped the BOV for the new fake Tial, it seems to work okay, doesn't go off at as low boost pressure add the real one, it might wear in a little bit after some more driving.

Had two people come and look at the car this weekend and have another guy in Auckland that had expressed interest.

Sold this thing over the weekend, it's going up to Auckland in a couple of weeks so there is a pretty good chance I'll never see it again. Feeling a little bit sad but onwards and upwards.

I guess it's a car you might one day regret selling. But you can't keep them all. And in my experience, memories of cars we wish we never sold don't usually include all the bad points/things that needed doing/things that didn't work.
