Been pottering around with this, fitted the new boss kit and steering wheel and R34 RB26 front cam belt cover, it's not a perfect match for the red top rocker covers but looks okay.
Need to sort out some new tyres for the other front wheels, that will have to wait for a bit till I can afford it.

Drilled and tapped the new bottom timing gear so I can remove it easily if I ever need to.
Went and saw Fleming on Friday, he'd finished the plenum top, he had to machine around half a millimetre off it to get it flat again. I thought I'd take in the new exhaust guides, he hadn't actually done anything about the K-Lines, went in again today to drop off the rest of the valves and he'd put all the new guides in already! Should have it back on Wednesday.
Plan is to get the motor back together and hopefully back in the car over the looooong weekend, maybe.

Do you want an engine crane, weather looks lousy.

Got the head back from Fleming, he did a really good job (as usual). New exhaust guides installed and reamed, recut seats and he refaced the valves. I've started shimming the exhaust side again which is a long and painful process, spent some of today on it and I'm 50% of the way through.
Bolted the plenum together yesterday, it's a million times better than it was so should seal up just fine now.
I think I also rooted the volt gauge at the track day. Long story but the gauges weren't bolted in and I think it's damaged it. I've got these sets which have analogue clocks which I like more than the digital one. Only problem is the one with the oil pressure & temp gauge has a faded needle on the clock so I'll have to make one out of the two.
The new sway bar mount bushes are quite funny, they are Nolathane's new no grease required bushes, they are lined with graphite (I think) and look furry on the inside.
Also bought some ARP flywheel bolts which are cheap ($60) and will give a bit of piece of mind over the 30 year old L series ones I was using.
Tools of the trade, the small torque wrench is what I've been using for assembling the head, the big torque wrench is what I need to do up the crank pulley bolt.

Sweeet!
The rear tyres aren't going to know what hit them!

Got the head 95% together, having trouble with one shim and can't seem to get it to within spec, will keep trying. All the others are +/- 1 thou of where they are supposed to be. I've got everything else together but have to pull everything apart for final assembly and to fit the stem seals.
Need to get a cam belt kit and some exhaust manifold studs tomorrow.

Are you just changing shims around or making them to size?

I've got 3 heads worth of shims to choose from but not many around that size. Managed to get there in the end by changing to a thinner bucket and a thicker shim.
