just check on the diameter, a lot of those universal style hoops are made for big ol v8s and are huge (though I imagine they could be chopped easy enough)

Craig's hoops are adjustable, powder coated and at a very good price. Imported from USA.

Or just bend one up out of some 50x5 bar or similar. Can easily bend it with a vice and creative hammer use

Turns out I plumbed the facet lift fuel pump in arse about face...

So yeah, spun that around refitted, and extended my rubber hoses, and away she went. facet pump runs very quiet once it has fuel in it, instead of dry humping itself

Funny, I heard your video and thought there must have been something wrong with it to be making that much noise.

Yeah Mark, I heard lift pumps can be noisey, but heck! that was noisey (had already thought plan 'B' would be a Carter)
Oh well the whole build has been a steep learning curve, and I have not finished learning yet....

Project Update:

Test fire not a complete success earlier in the week, as I have an issue with my new ignition system, I think it may be an earthing issue? I did have good clean 'white' spark when test firing from ECU, but once I made some adjustments and fitted plugs & fired it up under cranking conditions, I found spark to be weak and "yellow" and intermittent. The timing light even confirmed this. I have researched and double checked my parameters and all look good.... I have not had the ECU running ignition before, as historical starts last year were on OEM points/dizzy setup.

I have a nice stable VR crank speed signal after some adjustments, and fluctuates only by about 20 rpm when cranking, which is good news and have stable fuel pressure, and have mocked up the old exhaust.

I have to adjust my trigger wheel position, but its only out by 5° from measured advance on the ECU, vs timing light, although you can run a degree offset in the ECU to calibrate, I have mechanical adjustment in my clamp arrangement on the crank, so will adjust mechanically.

My new heater plumbing fittings have arrived, so will have it full of H2O @ weekend too.

More dynamat arrived from the states so will do under the rear seat, and around wheel arches, and probably do inside the rearguards, will do before painting so I don't cause any damage to outside paint with over vigorous application techniques!

NOS Genuine Nissan Parts from Japan arrived....
(got a bit of ebay fever last week)

New interior moulded arm rests/pull handles
New Gearbox rear seal
New fender side marker assemblies, lenses, chrome etc
New Heater water control valve & connecting hose

Have to track down an M16x1.5 dye tool to re-tap my steering box bottom thread, then I can connect and setup all steering and linkage components.

Will change rear seal on gearbox & then fit the newly balanced drive shaft.

I Have charged battery yesterday and will try and get spark working properly at the weekend.



Not to many more sleeps and this piece of tin will rotate a wheel for the first time under its own power since I have owned it! (6 years)

Hope you can get your spark issues sorted for the weekend Kitch! I too will be attempting start up this weekend all going to plan. I'm also 6 years into my build, should be plenty of datsun's on the road soon!
