have had a couple of startups during the week.....
still pretty frustrating though, as does not fire up that easy, and does not rev smoothly,
does idle nice though
hard process when I have no ones lead to follow, I guess thats the
issue with doing something unique...
Been playing round with various contol modes on the megasquirt; ie Alpha N mode, Speed Density
& ITB mode (which is a combination of the two). Alpha N is based upon engine speed, temperature
and using throttle position. Speed density is utilizing MAP sensor readings.
MAP Sensor seems to be playing up, as it is not reading 100kpa @ rest! it is showing like 220Kpa
so unless I have some kind of pressure lock in the lines (highly unlikely). when cranking it comes down
to like 80kpa & when idling it is like 90kpa. When you rev it, it barely moves more than 7-8 kpa, and
is very lazy in response.
I have read an inherent problem with ITB's is the poor vacuum generated, due to when they open they
dump so much air in, that it is hard to get decent pressure differences. hence why the ITB mode, uses
split VE table where it utilizes, TPS (Alpha N) at the bottom of the tables and below certain MAP reading
it switches to MAP radings (Speed density) based upon various load curves & switchpoints.... its all
very complexed... I am a bit lost with it all....
Regardless of how much success I have this weekend with tuning, I will take it into Rapid next week,
to get brake system checked & setup (and leaks fixed..) and new exhaust system installed. Will then
probably take it to suspension shop for preliminary setup of steering & suspension.
Feels like one step forward two steps backwards.... I am not in a hurry though, as cant get it painted
till I sell my boat anyway, so what be on the road before xmas thats one thing I can be confident with!
