Picked up the new turbo tonight

All seems well and good.

its a pretty tight squeeze in there and it fits , only just. Obviously some clocking needs to take place, and you can see my supplies for a new dump pipe.

haha it needs a 4"inlet filter anyway but at least I know a mushroom filter will fit there for going blow through MAF

Been a Crazy weekend of working on the Z, Been foward and back to my parents to use the MIG countless times.

But here is the good stuff.

Mass Air Flow Sensor switched over to "blow through mode"

Made a sweet dump pipe that hugs the chassis and make me scrape like a Stanced out Civic.

I also made the turbo flange but there was no photo, took ages with the hole saw in the drill press doing 50rpm to get through the 10mm plate.

Made up an offset Air filter Adaptor base plate for the HKS mushroom. I considered buying a 4" inlet filter but after looking harder it would jsut sit against the exhaust manifold which is bad. Adapter is just a bit of panel steel and a piece of 3" exhaust tube sectioned and re welded to make it 3.5".

This is it actually installed and not just sitting there

First thing I thought when I found about about the new turbo was "How is he going to fit it behind that engine mount?" followed by "Man it's going to be low! Will the oil drain still be parallel with the ground?"

Interesting what you're doing with the airflow meter, be keen to see how it turns out. Dump pipe looks nice!

Blow through is really common in the states and particularly so on z31's due to the engine mount thing.
For the oil drain it still points at the ground just like normal I spent a while clocking the turbo to make sure it gets proper oil drainage.

Turbo drain sits above the sump fitting so it will get decent gravity drain as normal
