Re: Kitchs 1200 Coupe
So I am giving the front (Z) seats a bit of a birthday.
Stripped & cleaned up, repainted metal work, adjust & grease mechanisms etc.
Luckily the foams are in pretty sound condition so going together OK.
Have finished the first swab - pretty happy with outcome

Re: Kitchs 1200 Coupe
This is the 260Z seats when I first got them.
they were pretty tatty, and all the mechanics were rusted and the likes, and they were clunky and to adjust seat back, and had heaps of play in them when you put weight on the back.

Re: Kitchs 1200 Coupe
End result of drivers seat. which was worse condition of the two.
Stripped and degreased and removed rust debris from all the mechanical/tilting parts.
repainted and lacquered steel hinge components & painted bolts.
Stripped off old covers, repainted steel inner back & base frame.
knocked dents out of steel backing.
cleaned up foams and refitted, removed plastics, and retaped foams
into position properly.
Fitted new cover kit, and fixed using the proper staples & crimper tool I borrowed
from upholstery shop up the road.
Was quite physical work, but pretty wrapped with the result, few minor wrinkles,
but overall I am 95% happy with my efforts.
took me probably the best part of 5-6 hours total to overhaul one seat.
Now I just need to weld new tabs onto the seat rails before test fitting
In other news:
my repaired/upgraded ECU is in transit back to me after 5 months...
also brought a new voltage regulator, wiper stub grommets & Nardi 330mm steering wheel off ebay
sent replacement alternator away for reco (thanks Woody for supplying me a donor alternator)
Started harassing my mate to finish panel beating my doors & guards so we can paint in next month or two
Finished rewiring car, just need to hook up my coil bypass to tacho when tacho arrives back with ECU

You are an inspiration Kitch, Nah actually I just hate you, you make me feel so slack. You are really making steady progress, at this rate you will definitely make Akoroa. Very impressed, seats look great.

Re: Kitchs 1200 Coupe
Akaroa - comes down to a few things:
1) Motor-vation (I would say time & effort, but these seem to both be easily found when you have motor-vation!)
2) More success with ECU / EFI / Ignition when I get ECU back..... than previous efforts/experience
I am partly excited for next startup mission, but more so, I am nervous....
3) Remortgaging house start of May and extorting 7-8K without being too obvious to wifey....
4) Paint & panel not significantly delayed

Looking good kitch. Like the seat covers. We've got 240z seats for our 1600 that will need recovering. Where did you get yours from? eBay stateside I would think.
