Alright got some good news, some not so good news and some other news. Daniel(DJZ) and John(broke) came out to James' on sunday to give me a hand with replacing the crank seal. Well John came to drop off my clutch line but stayed for a hand/say unhelpful things. Got the gearbox, clutch and flywheel off all pretty easily, new seal was also easy to put in. So bolted flywheel back on and was ready for clutch and pressure plate re-installation when I realised I didn't have a spigot bush in the end of my crank
I do re-call before putting g-box back on a while ago that I did try and put on it but it cracked so thought I must already have one in there plus there was a new clutch on the motor when I got it. Soooo John luckily had one for me at his place so raced there to get it and got back to James' to install it and man that's a tight fit! Took a while but we got it, in the process mangling Daniels clutch alignment tool haha. In the process of torquing up the pressure plate bolts I managed to snap 3
so that stopped work for the day. Good thing our buddy Scott sorted me some from Nissan today, back on track to finish the job this weekend! Still waiting on driveshaft though called Justin Neil today as it's been nearly a month now.. but he said it's still at MS Coombes getting balanced, it's been there for over a week now but apparently they are flat out. I'm hoping to get it back before the weekend but we'll see. At least my swish braided clutch line is done so once g-box etc is back in we can bleed her up!

I take full responsibility for those bolts breaking, should have double checked the torque setting with another source, damn you Google!

It was either that or work on my own cars, haha

The hilarity of this cannot be overstated!
Seriously though, for all the drama it was definitely a good thing to find out there was no spigot bushing now rather than on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere on a hot day. Should be all smooth sailing from here with new bolts for the pressure plate - don't forget to get some brake fluid, some proper grease for that bush and brake cleaner for the flywheel!

Oh how the saga continues! Djz gave me a hand again today to re install gearbox after getting the clutch and pressure plate back on but.... I put a bottle jack on the front of the motor to angle it back more to make it easier to get the gearbox back on and oil pissed out the back!!! After a bit looking around the rear of the motor wondering where it was all coming from we thought we better take the sump off to get a better look. After a bit of wrestling the engine around a bit getting the sump out we could see that there was no rubber seal at the rear of the engine!! When I first did the conversion I removed the sump off so Chris could fit it to a dummy block that he had, so I guess that the seal came off when I removed the sump and got lost somewhere and I never noticed when putting it back on.... better to find this out now rather than running out of oil while driving. Soooo didn't need to replace rear main seal after all
will get new sump seals this week and hopefully have it all back together this weekend! seem to be having a run of bad luck with the 180 at the moment hope it ends soon!

Oh noes! Still, as you said it's better to find out now than later! The rear main seal wasn't a waste as it's always a good idea to do that when the flywheel's off if you've never done it before.

Yeah! And now I can knock the dent out of my sump too haha. Taking sump into work tomorrow and will coat it in black zinc because I can haha. Also filed down the eyes on my front struts so my rx7 calipers fit perfectly.
