Picked up a sweet Boost Gauge on Tradme today.

I have always wanted a Genuine Auto Meter USA sport Competition Gauge

Can't wait to do some tuning now!

SAY WHAT?????? this is the very reason I do sheetmetal, I have no idea what you have described here

Ginge is good with that stuff - id be getting hold of one of those jacar kits to start off lol - tell you what ill be getting ginge to do one of those ma whos a whatsits thing a ma jigggy things for the FJ if its self learning. Although it will only need max boost all of the time lol.

Good going though James will be good to see what it goes like compared to Johns C32

On its current low boost the z31 is pretty bloody rappid especially seeing it hasn't had any tuning done to suit the turbo upgrade and MAF alteration, I was well impressed with how hard it goes. It's like a night and day difference with the bigger turbo on it in my opinion

I was going to wait until the rest of my engine etc was running (sometime at the end of the year) before I built one but I may end up building one sooner, and if I do, i will put the code on my github with full instructions so people can make their own (even non tech people).

Just purchased a 2002 VQ30DET Cedric so at least I will have a vehicle I can test.

Nice work James, been watching but too lazy to comment until now, heh.

I'll have to visit some time and see how much better it goes, it certainly wasn't short of grunt even with no intercooler and the old turbo so must be a real weapon now!

Not surprisingly I need to use my backup plan of the Jay Car controller boost control kit. The solenoid i got with my trade me kit seems mint, the only issue is the wiring on the simple controller doesn't seem to actually work - but that's ok I half expected that.

Does anybody have any recommendations on who does a good paint job ? i want to get my bonnet done for Akaroa so i can roll around fully stock looking spec and blow the doors off UN suspecting cars.

About time for a bit of an Update

My alignment sheet came out really good after performing a modified version of the sub frame , i now have correct and full toe adjustment. Car drives awesome now with more grip.
Image

Fitted up a nice Auto Meter Boost Gauge to monitor pressures of the GT35, modded the cluster so oil pressure still works.

And even made a new exhaust to go over the sub frame this time ( like I should have at the very start of this project ) Its not shown as finished but I'm very pleased how it fits up, had to get creative to fit it around my modified toe adjusters on the sub frame.

Split open another Drivers side ( non turbo ) manifold from shitty cast iron. Found spare no 3, lucky it had no cracks so i have match ported it, had it milled for straightness and drilled out the holes to 12mm as per the last 2 times.

A friend of mine in the USA is sending me out some 2" V band clamps and some short stubby 2" flexi bellows So i can progress these headers and maybe have them on the car before the end of the decade.

That was my very last spare thanks Torqued :D , so im lucky to be up and running for only $100.

And for you Bart I did indeed go All natural and no gasket, a thin smear of High temp RTV is all that was there. No Pics, see page 3 or something from the last one haha.

Backup plan has now moved into primary plan. got the solenoid wiring and switch out of the other kit and have now ordered the Jaycar kit & display so i can finally get this adjustable boost control issue sorted.

Not much to report

Been building my Jaycar Hand Controller and EBC kit, takes a pit of patience but Its fun doing some soldering for a change.

I also decided my intake plenum needed a 60mm throttle body fitted to replace the old 54mm one . As a manifold goes it was as ugly as sin and its aesthetics could be improved upon so i got hacking off all the unused threaded bosses , egr port, IAV ports ect.

Now it is just a bare throttle body with one port for the PCV and one port for the Brake Master Cylinder.
