Gearbox is back in! Had to drill out the spigot bush as it got a bit mashed up when we bashed it in. Alignment tool fitted in perfectly after that so clutch and pressure plate went back on followed by gearbox soon after. One little problem that DJZ and I noticed though... the shifter plate on the gearbox is hitting the trans tunnel so will need to either space it down a bit with some rubber mounts or completely modify the crossmember which I do want to do anyway as it's a bit well rugged.... Driveshaft fits so that's a plus! Just got it sitting in there at the moment. So feeling a little bummed out I put oil back in the motor and the gearbox and tried to start her up so I could feel better. Didn't want to start so got some more gas for it took a lot longer to fire than usual then all of a sudden it fired up and revved till like 1000000000rpm!! Haha the accelerator cable that I had just sitting there must've been holding the throttle open a bit so after removing that fired up again and had nice smooth idle So just need to lower gearbox down put more bolts in the driveshaft, bleed the clutch, finish off accelerator pedal, bolt axel's in then sort some breaks and try to reverse out of the garage!

Re: Datto_610's 180B - Running Again!
James and I spent yesterday afternoon re-engineering my gearbox x-member so that it actually works properly. Flipped it over so it lowered the box down and welded two strips of 50x5mm flat on each end and made use of the other holes in the chassis. Did a test fit and it's all gravy. Fast forward to today, James was grinding back the welds so we could get them tigged over when we discovered a nasty crack going accross one of the welds. But it's going to get sorted so no drama. Also got new seals for my RX7 calipers and stripped them down and gave the cylinders a clean up and a hone. Just need to get some of the rubber seals that go between the two halves then can assemble them again with a fresh coat of paint:D

Re: Datto_610's 180B - Running Again!
Another awesome sunday spent working on Datsun's both James and I were on a roll with everything working just fine. Greased up my rear wheel bearings and installed the rear arms and axles too. Just need some bolts for the axles and they are in for good. Got the control arm locking bolts made out some M8 threaded rod and some nuts all done and put in as well. Was hoping to get the front calipers all sorted and put on this weekend too but still waiting on the two little round seals that go between the caliper halves still got plenty done though. Got real jealous of James' swish as catch can's so had a test fit of one in my engine bay and looks like I'll be getting rid of my 'D1 spec as bro' catch can and hitting up Craig from Proparts! Sooooo for test drive just need to bleed up clutch, get gearbox crossmember back from welding and install it, get front calipers in and get hardbrake cables sorted for the rear! Getting close now!
Couldn't help myself.

Was absolutely fizzing after nats, that I got a wee bit done on the 180 yesterday. Got new bearing kits from Brock early on sat morn and the rest of the seals for RX7 calipers. Cleaned up hubs and knocked out old bearing shells, banged new ones in and was ready to paint them but forgot to grab my paint from home/too poor to buy some more. So took them home with me and put a few coats of primer on after work today will get them finished this week. Front calipers are all rebuilt and ready to go/stop just need some caliper paint and I can bang them on for keeps! Still waiting on my gearbox crossmember to get fizzed up properly... should hopefully have it back on sunday. Getting much closer so stoked with my progress.

Re: Datto_610's 180B - Running Again!
Had a bit of a ruh roh moment yesterday. Was going to mount my handbrake cables in anticipation of the maiden voyage... went to remove the rusty as adjuster and swap it for my nice zinc plated one when the threaded shaft snapped!! So now I need to find another r31 or similar handbrake cable
But in more positive news James and I spent a bit of time hooning round goon looking for some bolts to mount my discs to the hubs. After not having any luck James had a eureka moment and found 8x10mm crown wheel bolts that were the perfect length! Gave hubs a lick of paint and now they are looking swish especially with those big Honda rotors mounted on the back!

Re: Datto_610's 180B - Running Again!
Front calipers all painted up and installed had to bolt the bracket to the calipers first then bolt in as one unit, got some brake lines and banjo bolts for the front from Brock on friday too. Got them installed and they do not interfere with anything so that's good! James being the gc that he is went down to Rangiora engineering supplies yesterday morning to get me some shanked bolts for the CV axles thanks man! Radiator hoses are plumbed and hose clamped up, got the 180 back on all fours and rolled her out of the garage for the first time in ages. Filled her up with water and ran up to temp was really good to give the motor a good run for a few minutes, next week we will finish bleeding the cooling system. Did have a few small leaks to fix, I hadn't quite put the thermostat and housing in properly but thankfully James was able to sort it. Also got the modified gearbox crossmember finished and installed, we were hoping to get it tiged up but the guy we were going to get to do it was too busy so James went hard on it with a mig welder gave a lick of paint now she's all pretty. Next week we will start bleeding front brakes and clutch finish sorting accelerator pedal so she can move under her own power!
