AARRGGHH good luck with the l18 I'm not sure if youve sold your Fj20 yet but if you can you should try and have a ride in an fj powered car compared to an L-series car, before you decide. Cool if you want to keep it old school- it's totally up to you I reckon. High revs in an L-series don't sound better that an Fj20 -no way! IMO n/a fj's are one of the best sounding 4 cyl engines. If you are trading an fj to an L I think youll regret it just my 2c though, each to their own.

FJ20 "Thanks I needed that lets roll!" :guns:
L18 "NO way not again I'm going to have a stroke -I'll do it but I'm not happy about it"

:deadhorse:

they just look like the engine bay is half full!
They look good in the low bonnet line of the rx7's etch but when they get put in a box like a 1600 it just looks like there's nothing in there! :)

yeah, untill you put on the ida, dizzy, alt etc...
the big issue with them when you do a conversion is the need to sit quite low cos the eccentric shaft (crank) is in the centre unlike a piston engine thats at the bottom..
so the engine sits low in relation to the gearbox, so needs to be mounted lower so the eng/box-driveshaft isnt on a fag of angle...

they are cool motors though, ive never had problems with any of mine that i owned..but i did look after them... but that story is over on havik...

ive been offered a rather good sized wad of coin for the whole shebang, so the project is up in there air...
adam may have been right :violin: atleast i could go buy a regd datto instead..
but well see...nothings signed sealed or delivered..so will be business as usual..

hell probably turn out to be a huge time waster who gets kicks out of pissing people round..

your honest opinions needed...

before i drop the L18 in i want to make it look a little less yuck, so wanna paint the block, give the rocker cover abit of a clean up etc, repaint the sump black, pullies etc etc..
and off course the crossmember and arms etc will be back to black, or should i do them silver??

black or goldish coloured paint on the block??

black or silver on the crossmember??

i think itd look tacky and fully sick (homo) if there was gold and silver in the same area..

thoughts??

For what it is this the engine looks tidy with the black and blue.
