Need some opinions on flywheel bolts...
Basically brought this exact set off this guy about 6 months ago:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 038944.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
was playing around with putting everything together the other day and these bolts are about half a centermetre too long. How dodge is it to cut them shorter? Or how many people re-use flywheel bolts. Have been making next to no progress lately do to the money situation but hopefully with the new year coming up things might pick up..

How much clearance do you have to the clutch plate? Can you put a washer under the head and shorten just a little? New are way better than old, just piece of mind, although I have shorn a set of original ones off, when reused on a worked engine, so more than piece of mind.
If they were normal bolts I'd say as long as the thread allows them to tighten and stretch, not bind on the end of the thread, cutting wouldn't be a problem, just thread a nut all the way on so that when you have cut the end off you can clean up the tread on the end easily.
I think ARP bolts shouldn't be any different.

Cheers Vaughan, they are definitely a bit too long to try the washer and just shorten a little. Have found a mate who seems pretty confident he can shorten them so that will be done this week and then motor can go back in, then it is time to take it to Dans to start playing with the wiring. Had a wee catch up with Bart the other day and its amazing how a 30min chat about datsuns can inspire all kinds of motivation haha

Anyone know if you can get brake cylinder parts anyway?
Not sure if its terribly important as i guess it just protects the seal from the brake fluid but that metal thing has come off from the cylinder lid, can you get new lids anywhere? or even the whole unit?
Had a look in a few places but no luck. If my terrible description doesnt help i can probably post pics
