Looking mint!

on my old 1200 sedan, I had the callipers rubbing on the back of the mags too, for some reason it was only really on one side (maybe uneven brake pad wear?) I just ground off about 5-6mm off the offending plate, flap disc ground it back smooth, and painted it black, so was virtually undetectable. no problems ;)

Looking good Beaver.
Removing from the inside is easier, the area is smaller and may allow you not to have to cut into the tabs.
I have had a go at drawing on your photo to show where I mean. (please don't laugh, first attempt) The arrow shows where you can take metal from, between the pad and the calliper. The lines show the distance you want to reduce.

Hmm I think I see what you are getting at, still not 100% sure how itl work though. The pad sits in a formed metal bracket type thing which is then attached to the main bracket. Id have to modify this smaller bracket which holds the pad which doesnt seem like a good idea to me.

Unless Im braking up the wrong tree entirely?

In all seriousness thou taking about 5mm off the outside will not cause issues.

By the look of the pics cutting from the inside looks hard - outside straight line it, then round her off, paint up, done

found these brakes on tradme (apparently 120y), they look to have less material outside the pad (which is where I am having issues). might just grab them and try them out.....

Bare in mind that some B310's were badged as 120y's too. So they could be sunny brakes...........

Hah I was actually looking up this morning that swap. Seems to be pretty straight forward.....get a hold of some adaptor plates (Bart, got any left) and some minor machining of the hun to fit inside the s13 disc.
