well i brought my springs from Ripco , captive means that the spring is still held in at either end when the suspensions at full drop(im not the best at explaining things im sure someone could describe it a bit better), my are about 1.5 inches away from being captive, when i had my commodore i put it up on the hoist at my old mans and the springs fell out the back lol thats y the warrent guys are quite hard on uncaptive springs, cuz they "could" fall out if ya went over a big bump or something, and i paid 380 for my springs but that was a few years ago now

to make them captive you have to get the shock shortend so it reduces the distrance the suspension drops so that you spring is captive, so i would buy/cut or whateva ya springs first ta get it down to your desired heigt, then get you shocks shortened the distance that the spring isnt captive by, i got quoted 45 plus GST per shock for shortening at autolign here in chch

If you still have your original oil filled shocks, just pull them apart, and slide a wee bit of pipe over the shock shaft. This will prevent the shock drooping enough for the springs to be uncaptive.
