Datto_610's 180B - Wheels spinning!

Post by Datto_610 »

Ok so still waiting on sway bar to get back from getting made so we can do the test fit, but I've gone for a 21mm bar and instead of the stand datsun link rods we've changed to ball joint style sway bar links and there'll be 3 holes in the end of sway bar at each end for adjustableness!!

So pitstop finally had a look at the exhaust today and I've hit a bit of a snag with that.... the gearbox crossmember is to high up for the pipe to go on top and if it was underneath, it would be far too low.... so after a lot of thinking and talking to Nick I've decided to take it to him so he can work his magic by modding crossmember to run the pipe underneath and have plenty of ground clearance. Pitstop did say they could do this also but I'd rather have it im Nicks capable hands as I've seen the amazing work he does!!

Good to see some more movement on this Greg, keep chipping away. Can you get a section of pipe and elongate or flatten it to allow it to sneak under the cross-member and retain ground clearance.

That is a possibility but I'll leave it up to Nick to decide how to go about it

I won't be sad if nick throws that crossmember in the bin, I did my best to save it but it was always less than ideal.
The Answer to your Question is NEEDS MORE VG30

More progress!! After a lot searching I managed to find another set of R31 rear calipers stripped them down in the weekend and rebuilt them with new seal kits.

Also Nick has finished doing the exhaust and modding the crossmember and man am I stoked!! Looks so good I can't wait to hear what it sounds like!
I fitted the rear calipers and lines up after work tonight and we had a go at bleeding the system but could only get a little bit of fluid to come out of the rear calipers. I'm unsure if my brake m/c has one of those residual pressure valves for drum brakes that keep the shoes close to drums if so could that make it hard to bleed?

Sway bar is finished and have new rear coils and bump stops too will need to shorten the shocks but that's not a big deal, no pics of sway bar yet as it was getting powder coated when I took it to Nicks but Ill be taking the 180B back to chamberlains soon so they can fit it and do the wheel alignment.

Here are some pics!!
