Looks great Luke.
I think with the silly badges it would suit the A Series much more, not as unique, but would sound awesome and be driving sooner. You can always do it all again in the future and do the GA thing. That said I have developed a soft spot for the GA

Datsuns from A to Zed
Re: Luke's GA16DE Coupe
after hunting out all the proper gx-5 badges, why have anything but an a series in that engine bay. Few chrome bits and some nice twin carbs and drive it!!
Re: Luke's GA16DE Coupe
not 20 mins after posting this, me and brendan had a chat.
its going A series..........
UNTIL iv Finished the GA head work, bought the cams, and got some flash harry headers made up. its not really $4k down the drain as i will still be using the kit.............eventually.
probably wont fit coilovers/camber plates now until i cert the car.
or maybe i will and cert. then recert for the efi and extra 100cc of displacement down the line.
just need to freshen up the A15, hasnt run in 4+ years now.
so will save up for that step i think. from memory it was rather speedy for a small engine

Re: Luke's GA16DE Coupe
Looks awesome. Im kind of biased about the old A series as are a lot of people on here but its up to you.
A lot of people do it once and do it right. I think thats what can kill motovation on a project in the end. My coupe still has the original engine because I haven't had the money to build one with sidedrafts but at least I've been driving it around. Thats only opinion but cars are such big projects and if you can drive it, enjoy it and do upgrades time/money allows.

Re: Luke's GA16DE Coupe
well I dont need to chime in as it was a somewhat rhetoric question....
You can always do the GA later, or slap it in the ute and JDM the fuk out of that
Although I am partly responsible for the whole ITB thing, my intent was for you to ITB an A series not a GA you did that all by yourself!
but agree with all the lads; GX dressing + A series is the way you want to head
If you get stuck on your A15, I may,... just may help you out with a Reg Cook A15 you can use for a while, and rebuild yours later then swap out the long blocks. just depends if I need it myself, or whether my A14 will be repaired OK etc
PS Paintwork looks awesome - great work Wal

Re: Luke's GA16DE Coupe
Ride with Damon on a long cruise, and you'll see that a good A15 takes some beating.......
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
Re: Luke's GA16DE Coupe
If I had kept my original A series,my car would have been finished years ago. Do it,put it back in, you will have a smile a mile wide.
