Interesting seeing the Nissan Sign up, in what appears to be the Red and Blue that you would have expected a Datsun to be in the day, I know our 260C had Both Nissan and Datsun logos like that on it, but I don't recall ever seeing a dealer with a Nissan sign like that.

Some Nz rallying history

The 180b sss in Kobyns photo is the works car driven by Shekhar Mehta in the 73 Heatway rally. Paddy Davidson then rallied it for while. Paddy then transferred the works motor (which had an FIA head) etc into a 160J sss and sold the 180b as a club rally car. I wonder what ever happened to either car??

I know where the front struts ended up Andy!

HaHa yes Dave, more history for anyone who is interested. The works front struts are in my 510 race car. As I understand it they where spares for the 180b SSS. They have adjustable platforms, 4 pot callipers and a Halda drive through the middle of the axel. Because of this there is no split pin and the wheel bearing is adjusted using a lock nut. The struts where fitted to a 160j sss that was rallied by Gordon Blacklaws. Gordon sold the car to Dave (b110sss) who restored the car back to std and sold the struts to me. That 160j was originally rallied in the 76 international by Norm Lloyd.
70 510 rally car rebuilt and prepared as a classic race car
68 510 sss, retired rally car, currently a bare shell being restored
72 510 sss, awaiting restoration
72 510 sss, retired race car back on the road sold to my son

That photo was taken at the JCCA in tokyo this year. Had a talk to the owner while having a poke around it. Pretty rare Kpb110 which came out with a L14
