As is very often the case, a lot of hidden "gems" of ferrous oxide hidden under the the seemingly good exterior.

All the usual places needed attention. The rear quarters(Now New),The sills(Now New),Bottom of front guards(Now New),Taillight panel (Now New)
Beavertail panel (Now New), all doors needed some work but were in pretty reasonable nick and lots of little holes needed filling.
Oh, and as you can see in the pictures there has been removal of someones previous efforts on the wheel arches and new ones shaped and looking like original.
So what we thought was a sound shell requiring little in the way of restoration turned into a bloody ton of work.
While we were at it we added some "tricks" which will make it easier to add items like radiator and intercooler but look like they were always there.
It has had underseal and paint on her bottom and has recently been taken off the rotisserie and put back on her wheels.
Getting close to applying paint and so should be back at home for assembly to commence by about the middle of September.
This is a testament to the skills of Graeme Pond of Country Classic Cars at Rongotea just west of Palmerston North who admitted when we approached him to do the job said "I don't usually work on jap stuff but I will treat it as if it is my own car!".
He most certainly has done justice to that statement. I would recommend him to all as a great 'old school' tradesman and artisan.

Also just in case anyone reading this has noticed the ocassional picture and commentary of the blue car and is vaguely interested in whats happening to it atm....Well it is now all fitted with all the goodies and we are waiting for the cert plate to arrive and be attached and that should be all for that for a while until the 69er is finished. But it WILL be attending the Akaroa cruise this year. Call it a shake down cruise, haha.Enjoyed it so much last year we just had to come back.

Make sure you get down early enough to do the Track day on Friday night :) Will be great to have you south again, are you bringing the same crew?
