yeah, mine had to be cut.....dont know why some people get away with it.
have heard on other forums e.t.c. that they had to cut it like me.....
maybe I just had a different mostache bar or rear diff cover or somthing?

sorry for hijacking the thread greg!
my r200 is fitted on shanes sss 2door-converted body, theres about 2mm clearance.
shanes using stock bushes and im using nolathane.
with good condition stock bushes or nolathane, there should be next to no movement from the xmember and moustache bar.
by the looks of dans pics, the rear cover on his r200 is a lot different to shanes and my diffs, which could explain the reason for cutting the brace for clearance. dans mentioned its a later skyline rear cover, probly r32, was as shane and i have r30/r31 longnose diffs and rear covers.
so could be the case of modifying the body brace to suit your r200, depending on what diff you use.

My R200 (ive tried a couple of different diffs in there to) fitted in with no cutting to the body at all. (KP710) I always just thought it was a unlucky 1600 owners issue that they had to face. I guess maybe some where along the line Mr Datsun put that little support thing in the back in a different place on some cars.

This is a very nice build ive just read through it and it makes me really wanna get back onto mine. Shame i gotta finish the 140J before i can get back onto the 160J
Im heading down to the parents place today though so i think i'll have to go fire the SR up gotta keep theses things turning over and it might just keep me satisfied a little longer.
Keep us posted with any further mods i'll be looking forwards to it.

Progess report!

Got my doors back from Wal and im stoked with his work, they are already back on the car. Bart gave me some motivation to sort out my loom, so we went and saw Dan the CA man and he kindly let me borrow one of his ready to go looms. Yesterday i went to my lock up and plugged in all the wires i could and sorted out where i wanted to cut the whole for the grommet. Pretty stoked with the outcome all i need to do now is sort out intercooler piping and i can paint the engine bay woo!

Also found a dodgy repair from the previous owner dont know what they were thinking when they did that :?
