well i brought this beast after a friend of mine no longer wanted it/ run out of motovation.
it is a 1982 sss hardtop jdm spec 910
had been sitting around a while by the look of it as the reflection off the fender mirrors has bleached the paint in certain spots haha .
anyhow here my whole build thread because im lazy and cant be f**ked (mind the french) making another new one
while your reading this .. i need an r31 irs rear end setup .. somone needs to give one to me , mainly the hlafshafts and the hubs .. thank you

And the best thing... yes. those k's are genuine!!

steam cleaned engine bay and painted some shit
Image
and put new motor in
Image
Image
Image
and began cutting the roof , but got tired after 30 seconds
Image
i also hooked the vacuum idling thing too (not the tvis type jigger)
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
i decided to do many skid that i dont remember doing at a xmas work function ( dont worry closed yard etc)
Image
Image
oops ...
after this i fitted a r180 out of a attessa bluebird . they have lognnose diffs btw guys .
however to get the vlsd to fit i would have to get the halfshaft modded and i couldnt be bothered .. so just run it open
Image
Image
Image
Image
i prefer to gas weld exhaust sections mainly because i reckon it looks way tidier
Image
the whole exhaust bolted together
Image
new section vs old section:
Image
Image
this is an r180 vlsd
Image
this is a r180 vs r200
Image

and for lols while the rear subframe was unbolted from the diff
Image
new rims , hayashi streetfins . only 14x6.5 and o offset , i i reckon they suit the car to a t
Image
Image
Image
Image
and as of friday last week :
take that ca18det fiends!!!! ... yes that is a 4port ca
Image
oh hello oil cooler
Image
Image
Image

dont get too excited ... i got home and realised that the lower manifold was missing ...offered the guy $50 to find it because i really need it as the 8 port wont fit .
plans ... well tbh i dont want to use this motor for my plans because im aiming for response not massive hp .
however plans for the motor im building are:
ca18det .
ca18de pistons
exahust cam on inlet side (so some adjustable cams gears)
a gt2860rs (disco potato) with .64 a/r turbine housing .
standard ecu remapped
bosch 044 external fuel pump (prob wont need it but yea)
some form of upgraded in tank pump .
gtr injectors .
z32 afm
sr20de throttle body

thats it for now im aiming for pickup to start at 2.5 -3 g and carry on to redline aiming for a lowly 240hp atfw . and getting that should take about 12-14 psi , which is easy .
i am also going to go for a 8 port head and manifold to keep the low torque , mainly because i want it to be a 'fun' car so looking for responce as opposed to outright power .
but as we all know shit changes etc.
thanks you for looking

on a side note this is what the fins look like on it non polished and it slammed Image[/quote]
yea well after getting a budget of what the ca will cost for it to be indestructible and do what i want the price is going to be off the meter .. so currently i might buy a cheap car with the pistons budget and buy another motor thats makes 206kw atfw from factory and isnt boosted .
it wll take alot of fabrication and a bit of massaging of the g-box tunnel but i reckon it should fit , especially if someone can fit a vgde series motor into a 910 and not run into brake booster problems ..
while im here and semi boozed ill post these ... mod feel free to delete . but i do belive taking care of your car , however having fun at the same time
for laughs this is what ca series engine do to sr's

so i aquired another 910 today mainly for parts . bt of a shame because i really liked it .but alas it is dereg and has rust so not really worth trying to revin .

its a nzdm model with irs . well thats what it looks to be anyhow . has some sweet little bits and pieces that i found pretty cool .
its irs.. which isnt amazing , however the irs i cv from factory which i found pretty cool
it has custom 910 struts up front with a threaded sleeve and toyota gt4 inserts .
the rear is some form of cut spring and r32 front struts i think . either way its super slammed drove it over the pit and it was laying rails so cleanrance is in the vicnity of 30-50mm
motorvation is via l20b + 5 speed which smokes up the rears really well >:D (pics and vids to come) .
the interior is in pretty good nick everything works . i laughed when i started it up and a battery low level lightcame on in the center warning screen thing .
yea ive wanted to nick it for a while but my mate was doing stuff on it so no go , however when he realised it was dereged i was first in to grab it for a very modest sum of a hundy bucks .
so yea full load stationary cooling test .
Image
Image
diff with cvs from factory
Image
the only interior pic
Image
and the front struts
Image
Image
sill cut out ... note the reinforcing in the sill , probably because its a hardtop
Image
cut out a section of sill from patrts car
Image
Image
welded in (got it took me a long time to get the power right so it wouldnt blow holes everywhere)
Image
Image
all ground back and primed ready for filler

right so after deciding the i do in fact want to make it to the trackday for a burn i had to pull finger .
my list was: .
get warrent
new tyres for streetfins
fit seedies coilover struts
double up the rear swaybar
exhaust cam inlet side
sidepipe
finish off sill repair .

so i started with putting tyres on the fins 185/55/14 gt radial champiros nothing flash but i have shit alignment and did not want to wear out a set of very expensive tyres instantly .
they were fitted , look alight .
i then fitted seedies coilover struts to the front and attempted to fit the r32 struts to rear too , just to see how they sat ... they sat low ...very very fucking low
Image
Image
Image
Image

so as you can see that was NOT going to work at all , so i took out the 32 struts and put the old ones back in , the height diff is 50mm more at the rear , which i can live with till i can sort somthing else out.
i then had a go at doubleing up the rear swaybar , from what i have read the rear swaybar seems to be more important then the front in terms of handling on rwd cars , so i doubled it up and just stuck with that (because the front was way harder and i run out of motovation) .Image
Image
Image
its not ideal how it is atm and i will improve on it. i was going to today when a more pressing matter came up (rear further on) .
right so with that all done i turned my attention to the exhaust cam. piece of piss , goes in with one tooth advanced. (exhaust cam is 248 duration with 8.5 lift .) . i did this and put it all back together . started it .. idles sweet , cool ill go for a drive . go halfway down the road .. hrmm there are some massive flatspots all over the place "i think i may have fucked up here . oh well ill fix it tomorrow" . got to taita roundabout and nailed it ... hit about 7k ... BANG no lost all power and 4 lanes of road behind me turned white nearly instantly ... OH FUCK
i know exactly what that is .
got towed back to w/s and pulled head off expecting a blown headgasket and a bent valve ... i was wrong .
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

with 4 days till this thing i ment to get to nats and only 3 to get the warrent (28 days are up) .
was still calm . pulled motor out dropped sump , pulled out number 1 piston and conrod and here it is i then grabbed a conrod out of the ca18det and swapped it over kept the bearing and piston etc.
Image
i then gave the friendly staff at repco a buzz and they got a headgasket sorted , choice .. here on tuesday . .. wait wut ??. your shitting me . fuck

so i cleaned everything up (wasnt going to) and got all the gunk out of the sump , head and block glad i did cos by jesus there was alot .
Image
Image
i then set it up all neatly on the bench ready for reassembly .
Image
sand blasted my rockers covers cos they were ugly and may aswell now .
Image
Image

choice .. the race is on .
place you bets naow
oh and sidepipe .. not sure if im gonna run it as im pretty sure ill breach 95db
Image
well after plastigauging the bigends i found number one had squished (prob due to the whole hydraulicing thing) .
soo ordered new big end and mian bearings , and new piston rings .
they are here tomorrow so i go ino cleaning evertyhing and honing the bore which is a very good shape tbh , no lip or anything! . stoked . there was a little mark in the #1 cylinder at the top so i have a sneaking suspicion that the headgasket had a leak before it let go . so i gotta measure the head tomorrow aswell .
so here we go pics
this was number 4 main ... arnt i glad i took this apart!
Image
the block honed out
Image
Image
this one looks really course but isnt
Image
and pistons and gridle etc .

well went to taupo for the trackday and here is how it went .
Image
Image
Image
Image
went really , really well , the double swaybar made a huge difference and the exhaust cams effects were felt aswell .
it blew a heater hose off on the first laps and split one other coolant hose during the day but that was it really , so im pretty stoked with it.
it needs stiffer rear springs as it understeers quite badly but i might be going the coilover route so that will fix that problem if i do.
a lineup shot of a couple cars .
Image
Image
just another vid of the car .. mainly for my entertainment .. didnt even realise this was on the car till 15 mins ago

mind didnt mine are uj's , that idff i slong gone because i got the hard word from the boss so didnt end up pulling it out.
it was the weaker tuplis stlye cv anyhow so its not that much of a loss .
yes old 910 are , trying to get a hold of one or two more before they become the new ex lancer ... which they will by the way ..i hope not too many coupes or hardtops are destroyed in the process

nah sorry dude i wanted to i really did , but alas , such is life . like i siad they were the weak tulip type cv , be far better to get a stronger later cv type companion flange modified .
