Here are some shots of my girlfriend's new car :D

It's a 1979 Datsun 180B Wagon. 8-)

Went and picked her up from Rotorua last Thursday evening (thanks Mitch  ) and got to work sanding on the Friday.

Ignore the dates on the photos....damn camera got me again

This is what it looked like when we picked it up. At this point we have just taken the bumpers, lights, towbar, trim, etc off.

Then we started sanding. As they say many hands make light work :D

Here is where Dad knocked out a big bit of bog and beat the panel back closer to its' original shape. You can see where the bog was if you look at the first photo.

All primered up by yours truly  and Dad just doing some finishing touches.

We shot over to Mount Maunganui on the Saturday hoping to pick up the paint from Resene. Turns out there Automotive part is closed on the weekends which the person on the phone neglected to tell me :baseballbat:
Linkup was open though so we skipped over there and luckily they hooked us up with some sweet PPG paint. Stoked :D
Went to paint it all on Sunday and it started to rain on and off. Decided to do the bonnet in the garage while waiting for it to clear.

Eventually the weather fined up so we got her outside and painted the rest of it.

And here is how it all looks now with everything put back together.

Also managed to do an air filter change, oil and filter change and coolant change in the weekend. As well as get the boot popper working, put in a working oil pressure sender, replace a split hose and just tidy the whole thing up in general.

Haha yeah we had to work quick since I'm off to Palmy at the end of this week

I'm really pleased with how it's all turned out. Big thanks to you Mitch for putting in the extra work just before we bought it

Cheers guys :D

Noticed the exhaust was leaking where it mates to the head so got that seen to yesterday. Looked like No.4 cylinder header flange wasn't lined up perfectly flat witht the other two so ended up using my old ones off my 180B.
The exhaust sounded a lot better once that was all done. 8-)

Then we noticed that the engine had a miss in it. Took the spark plugs out and they were pretty covered in carbon so cleaned and gapped them. Looked like it had been runnin rich. Put the spark plugs back in and took the air filter off to have a play with the carb. Played around for a while with the mixture and didn't seem to achieve much, at one stage I went to choke the carb with my hand and it sucked my hand right over the top
Then gas was just pissing out into the carb even with the throttle completely off
Ended up fixing it by revving it up and then slamming my hand back over the carb again. After that the miss was also gone  set the mixture and idle and it was all good. Seems to be running pretty sweet now :D
