Its a good thing my 120y doesn't have a bazillion horse power like everyone else, as the throtle seems to be randomly sticking. Its just a bog standerd A12 with a standard carb. Over the weekend I pulled the cable out and lubed it, not that it felt sticky to start with. The carb behaved its self and was not sticking. I am having a gess here and thinking it could be iceing up as it only has happened going to work in the morring. The first couple of times it did it reved it tits of and I assume this shook it free. The last time it did it I pulled over after turning the engine off in gear, just as stoped it freed its self.
So if anyone has had this problem and answers that dont involve dellortos, fuel injection and rocket boosters will be greatly appricated.

its possible it could be the throttle linkage on the carb may be sticking or grabbing intermittently. maybe just go over it all and double check. maybe crc the linkage, suppose it couldnt hurt anyway. failing that, check there are no kinks in the line or that the pedal is not grabbing on the carpet somewhere

my a12 in my sunny did it to me once, this was also a cold morning on way to work, i managed to get my foot under peddle and pull it back up, has never done it again tho

does the carb have any play in the throttle butterfly shaft?
turn the throttle half open, then check for any shaft play.
if the carb has lots of shaft play, it could possibly bind/stick.

if it was a carb issue, youd get random idle speed changes as well.

you could try another accelerator cable, someone here should have a spare.

ive got a carb you can borrow if it came to that option.

check your return springs aswell..

check the throat of the carby, if its gunked up the butterfly could be jamming on the sides

i was thinking the same nosebleed, was gonna mention it haha.
just like throttle bodies, carbon between the butterfly and throat can cause random sticking, especially when applying the throttle off idle.

It's been years, but back in the day my 120y did this, regularly, in the winter, till I fitted a tube from the air cleaner intake to the exhaust manifold, never did it again. It was just icing up, as you discribed, Sunny air cleaners come with the tube as standard. Back in the day it was so common parts shops sold aluminium flexi tube so people could retro fit them, not sure if you could get it now.
You may need to form a shroud to collect hot air from around the manifold, or just fit Dellortos!!!

a turbo will keep it warm!!

does your car run headers? If there was no heating from the hotbox that might not help.
