Just came in from bleeding the brakes on my 1600 backs bled no problems moved up to the fronts that are now r31 tried bleeding them and nothing happened when pedal is pushed it no fluid comes out at all so tried bleeding at the master cylinder and have the same problem theres heaps of play in the part of the caliper that moves in and out and i thought that might be the issue so thought id ask before i go tighting anything up

i dont think the part that moves has any effect on the fluid itself. that is usually just a bolt the caliper slides on. try bleeding again but start at the rear left, then rear right, front left then front right. failing that try back bleeding it. i know this may sound stupid, but make sure there is plenty fluid in it. the amount of times ive bled brakes with no results to find there was no fluid in the reservoir is amazing

i started with the rear left the went rear right then when got to front left thats where i hit the problem heaps of fuild hasnt moved since starting on the fronts and ive checked the lines to make sure its not leaking anywere the only thing i can think of is the lines from the old steel ones to the caliper could be blocked ? would it be allright to open the bleeder and try blow it out with the compresser ?

if you blow the bleeders out, then maybe take them off the calipers, otherwise you will damage the piston seals etc etc. if that doesnt work, try back bleeding it. for that you will need a hand pump and a decent amount of fluid

first make sure the master cylinder is not leaking back into the booster. does the master have twin blead nipples on the side or bottom if so blead that before you even start bleading the lines.
Failing that and all is good take the lines of the master and the caliper and blow air lines with compressed air to make sure there is no gunk in the lines.
also are you getting the full stroke of the master cylinder and the piston is working for the front and the back.

the master has the twin bleeders but the one closest to the firewall doesnt bleed at all ill have to check that the piston moves far enough tomorrow after work but if the furthest cylinder bleeds properly shouldnt the other ?

when you bleed the master cylinder try puttin your finga over the nipple get a freind to push pedal down let your finger off when pedal is down then finger back on and let foot off pedal and carry on doin this untill fluid arrives failing this i feel your master maybe failing ......or even better take nipple out and do this...........or even better take brake line out off master and do finger thing
