7.4 Quake in CHCH

Was a bit of a shock to wake up and see the news this morning.
Hope all members from Christchurch are ok along with their families and Datsuns.
Hope they get your power/water/sewage sorted asap too.

yeah woke me up....was so cool!
we been driving around taking pictures of all the builings that have crumbled.....helped a shop owner turn off the gas to his shop that was hanging off the wall

just heard lone star pub, and hockey stadium are piles of rubble. CBD has been cordoned off.

That was something I never want to be in again. Kids screaming and literally bouncing off the walls while running into our bedroom. No damage here and the zed is still happy under its cover. Only a bottle of Jenilite feel off the cupbroard and is now trying to eat the beer fridge.
Plenty of sand volcano's down our street and tarmac lifted etc, but no real damage. Lucky.
We can all be very very thankfull that this didn't happen during a work day as many people would have been lost. Just doesn't bear thinking about.

agree james, good to hear you and the family are sweet. been looking through some pics online, and have to say it would have been a really different story if it was a work day

weve been taking heaps of pics.....we were in town at around 5am, so got to see all the fucked up buildings before the cordons turned up lol.
theres some bridges that got all twisted up.....big holes in the ground
