Gidday, Surplus to requirements,
I got these of TardMe 21st May, Auction # 55414390, Flywheel Lightened and Balanced apparently cost $350 and is 10-12 pound ? Head has double springs and has been ported, planed and has shortened Valveguides.
It has Standard Valves! I brought it just for the springs , I ended up getting better Springs with my cam from Reg Cook!
I've got it listed on TardMe for $250.
make an offer!

seems awfully expensive for lightening and balancing the flywheel! do you think the seller was talking it up, or could that be true?
cost me 80 to get my 1200 flywheel lightened to 12pounds.

Yeah probably bullshitting If he didn't even know the weight "10 12 Lb" I just weighed it on our bathroom scales and it comes up around 7Lbs!!! wtf! and I got my flywheel lightened for free by the engineers next door to where I used to work HaHa! didn't bother with the balancing and it seems sweet as!

i wouldnt think youd want to balance a flywheel, unless you were going to balance it with a crank, and crank pulley etc.
7lbs is fuck all, i think its been lightened too much!! i wouldnt dare go under 10lb at the most!!!

the ones ive done we take to 8 and thats pushing it the daughter toy handles it ok the a15 in the rally car snaps them like cheese at under 8
the new minispint is the first one ove had done out side of home the guys recond not to take them under 9
we balance them on the crank it reduces wear and tear so to my way it wwould need the crank it was balanced on to be any good but hey ive just come of night shift so might not make sense as usual cheers ron

nearly 15pounds, seems pretty safe for a lightened flywheel, may have been for a rally car?

I wouldn't lighten a flywheel and not balance it. Normally when you lighten a flywheel the original balance holes get machined out so you are putting the flywheel out of balance. With/ without crankshaft I'm not sure what you guys mean but if the crankshaft was to be balanced I think they would balance it first then bolt the flywheel on and balance that. They only bolt on in one place anyway. Normally the engine reconditioners will want a crank to balance the flywheel, so they have something to bolt it to to put it in the machine. On mine they balanced the crank first with plastecine then bolted the flywheel to it for balancing. then the clutch cover cause they are often as far out as the flywheel. the thing to remember is that the factory balanced everything to a point so unless you change something ie lighten the flywheel or need it better balanced ie for continuous high rpm etc it's no big deal. I'm not an engine reconditoner so this is only my understanding of it all
