so ive spent the last few weeks fucking round with this ute diff ive got to chuck in my ute as only had sedan running gear when i got it.

*ive stripped it all
*sandblasted it
*undersealed
*swaped all parts over
*done new shoes and clylinders

now though i went to chuck my new relowered leaf springs in and no deal ive had the top main leaf flipped and reset instead on rolling the eyes however the leaf hit the back of the front shackel mount so had to cut a section out hope it worth it seems all good

didnt think of this but bloody u bolts wont work cause axle housing is slightly bigger on the h165 silly me easy fix though

(((cunty problem im having now tho i need to remove the tailflange off the diff head because it leaks oil like fuck but almost run out of ideas i cant crack the nut on the end with half inch power bar or rattle gun may be stupid question but any tricks

i was gonna try once diff is bolted in with u bolts to chuck wheels on and put it on the ground to lock the flange but might be too low to get under

3/4" power bar? a big-ass pipe over the end of a power bar? Have you tried shocking it by giving it a few (Careful) whacks with a hammer? I also find there are a few different types of "freeze and release" sprays on the market that are quite good nowadays, I think the Loctite one is the best, used to use it a lot to remove snapped-off studs with vise-grips.

Best Spray Ive ever used is called "PB BLASTER" we have to keep it in a metal spray bottle at work because it melts the plastic ones. LOL

My motto for industrial chemicals is "If it doesn't cause cancer its no good"

i was thinking give some spray a nudge might be the go boys spray some on and let it sit half the battle is stopping the diff from spinning is there an easy way to lock an open wheel diff head? from spinning an axel dont say weld lol

ive tryed cramming the handbrake on to no prevail
and vise grips on the flange but that only leaves me 1 hand to try crack it might get sum freeze spray and wait for a mate to come round

dont see me having much room if its on the ground

I'm a bit confused about what it is you're trying to remove, I thought you were trying to take the back cover off a diff, are you trying to remove an axle to replace a side seal? If so, you could try putting a long powerbar/pipe etc between two wheel studs and have the other end of it jammed against the ground while you remove the nut maybe.

put 2 bolts in the holes and run a bar diagonally through them or grab a bit of 8mm flat bar and drill 2 holes spaced at the same spacing as the bolts and bolt it on top then turn it so its wedged onto the ground, then you still have 2 hands free and it wont turn.

hes trying to do the pinion seal isnt he?

The pinion flange is square yeah?
I ussually hold the flange either in a vice, or (if it's still in the housing) with a big pair of pipe tongs. Then use a 1/2 inch power bar, with a good metre of pipe slipped over it.
Also when you reassemble it, use lock-tite. Otherwise you're just asking for trouble. (You're actually supposed to replace the crush tube, but new ones aren't availble.)
