Visiting NZ from the US

My name is Ryan, and I run Desert Datsuns here in Arizona, US. I'll be on the north Island working in Palmerston North for a week, and then have a few free days to check out the area. I get there on the 19th of July, and leave on the 27th, hopefully giving me the 23rd through the 26th to wander around. Wondering if anyone is having a Datsun meet I could attend, or other must-see car activities? Also looking for advice on things to do and see while in the area. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Ryan!

It's a pity you're not coming to Christchurch. There's a huge following down here. Hopefully some folk from palmy will be keen for a meet up.

Glad to hear you are making your way to our fine country :) I used to live in Palmerston North and can't say there is toooooo much to see and do. It is however a beautiful sister city to Christchurch with some nice walking tracks around the Esplanade and a nice square at the heart of the city. It could be worth your while (provided you have some reliable transportation) to head north to say Napier/Hastings or down to the windy city, Wellington. Am sure there may be a few Wellingtonian's that could be keen for a catch up. As Bart said, a pity you aren't making your way to Christchurch...we would be happy to receive you ;)

Regards,

- Braasy

Hi Ryan

Im heading to Gisborne on the 22nd and will be coming home on the 25th. I am Wellington based so if some thing can work I will be more than happy to say hello. I drive a datsun as a daily car.

Cheers Kane

Hi Ryan, if I was in the North Island still I would definitely be keen to show you my project, unfortunately I'm in the dirty south atm. Maybe you need to book a flight to Christchurch while you're here :-)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I fly into Wellington, and out of Aukland, so I'll be able to see different areas. I will have a rental car, so traveling isn't a problem. Would be nice to meet some like minded people while I'm there.

I know one of the other guys already had a peek, but here's the address for my club/site:

A few pics of my car, so you know I'm not a flake:

The company I work for makes/sells monitoring equipment for the electric power industry. I'll be installing a 8 gas chromatographic unit onto a large electric transformer. We'll see how the install goes, and hopefully I can catch up with a few of you guys afterward.
