Was just thinking when flicking through the latest NZPC (and saw a feature on the Oldschool meet) that with the large event of Akaroa coming up that we should look at doing the same.
Akaroa meet rivals most other clubs in turn out , and I am sure others would find the amount that show up impressive.
This will put the club out there and will poss get a few more quality members. It suprises me how many REAL CAR ENTHUSIASTS still haven't cottoned onto the internet and therefore sites like this.
Lets face it, chrome is out, Datsuns and JDM are in and in a big way. Their prices have skyrocketed over the last few years due to demand far surpassing supply. And we have members with the best looking/engineered/performing JDM tin in NZ
A feature may also inadvertantly drum up attention from dickheads, but that is why I thought a poll will get peoples opinions.
OPINIONATE AWAY!!!

Re: Akaroa 2011 - feature for or against?
At the committee meeetings, it's been discussed. Hayden knows some guy who owns a magazine that might be down with doing an article on our "Nats".
But seeing the oldschool meet in that mag, Maybe we could try get into both!
I'm fairly sure someone from OS just sent them some of the pics, and a blurb. All the pics they used are in the post meet thread at OS.
I think it can't be a bad thing. (I'm just gutted my NZDATSUN sign writing wasn't in the pic of my car in that article)

The Chick I know that knows the guy (Colin from Juiced magazine) even better than me is hoping to be coming with me to Hanmer. She has booked the time off now just has to organise flights. I am sure that he will be keen for any input for the magazine.
Not sure NZPC would be keen on doing something if juiced is. but then it would be there lose.

It wont cost anything to send them some pics and a blurb.

yeah, certainly be good if we can get into both magazines.
Might try to get something from Hanmer in there to, then it may be seen by a few people that may then try to make it to akaroa.

Smart thinking Hayden.
Lets hope we can get a good turnout with some pics worthy of publication.

Re: Akaroa 2011 - feature for or against?
The OS Nationals were put on a previous NZPC "calender of upcoming events" as I believe the sub-editor/backup editor, fuck I'm not sure the title, but Marcus anyway, is on oldschool. We weren't particular happy about the location being told to all but it worked out OK in the end as it was in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, we talked to Marcus (he used to run the OctaneCulture website but since taking a post at NZPC hasn't had the time) about having a feature on OS, or he asked, I can't recall which but what we did in the end was Richard (Snoozin) wrote up a little story and then it was fine tuned by the admin and mods and we selected a range of pictures and submitted them along with the blurb. We were still dubious about whether it would be changed but I think it was published relatively unscathed and the choice/use of pictures is hilarious, in particular Andy's ute.
As far as Juiced goes. OS and Juiced got off on a bad foot, there was potential for a decent magazine (or at least on OS side there was hope) that just ended up being a fetid sub NZPC standard pile of shite. The first edition was a joke, the second (which I think was the first available to the public) was not much better but that's the market they're after, the flashy trend jumping crap, given "JDM" and "Nostalgic" cars are getting more popular, there's little doubt that they'll both leap atop that realm shortly. Something that might aid (or further their boring inane drivel) is that I believe from the most recent correspondence that the editor is now Falgs, who used to be something to do with NZPC or perhaps 4 & Rotary Nationals.. I'm not sure but he does have more credibility than Colin (who once someone "friended" him on Facebook, he proceeded to go through friend lists added every fucking person like a scam plague troll). In my view, Colin conducted himself very poorly and I'd not have any part of anything he himself is part of.
That said, I am a known to be a cunt so it could just be a personality conflict and entirely my fault.

Yeah juiced seems way behind NZPC. Iv met Pedey before and could ask him if he would be interested. Im sure he will be for something like the OS write up.

Re: Akaroa 2011 - feature for or against?
I spoke to Vaughan (Classicdat) today, and he suggested what about speaking to NZ classic car magazine? After all, datto's a about as classic as it gets. (Exlcuding cars that are gay) Also, they did a faeture on a B210sss back in about '94.
I think that might be an option for "good" exposure. Might attract the right kind of people. A lot of NZPC's target demographic I wouldn't descibe as the sort of folk we want to attract. (Friend's don't let friends fit 20" chromes to their dattos)
