Hey all.

Going to do a R200 diff conversion on the 1600 so slowly going to build up the parts i need.

Found a guy with 2 R200 diffs for sale, Both are from a R31 skyline, one from a gtd diesel and one from a gt petrol.

Anyone know what the difference between the petrol and diesel ones is if any?

Thanks
Nic

I think probably auto or manual would make more difference?

A diesel might have a taller ratio than a petrol ?

we do have that thread on here which has a listing of different R200 diff ratio's

Does he have the rest of the cars? The diff ratio will be on the chassis plate.

Sounds like petrol HR31s came with 4.11, 4.3 & 4.6 ratio diffs depending on exact model and specs. The HR31 I took the diff out of had a 4.375, but that was an auto turbo.

Hes not sure on the ratio of the diff but the car is auto - didnt think to ask if its on the chassis plate so will ask him.

Bart gave me a link to the r31 forum and i found this page which was very helpfull so think i now know what i need to know - cheers Bart.

Unless I was reading the wrong bit, they were mostly talking about the shithouse Aussie solid rear axle diffs. With their gayer than aids local content laws, they used loaclly made solid rear axle borgwarner diffs in their R31's.
The Japanese R31's had the R200.

Ops thatl teach me for skim reading, didnt realise the Auz ones came out with solid rear axles so just skimmed down to the part where it talked about ratio differences, kinda obviouse now tho when i read them talking about falcon diffs etc beeing the same.
O well ive settles on the Petrol one so well see what ratio it is when i get it.

Pull the covers off the diff its the only true way to tell as you can't really be sure if either are factory or have been replaced.
If the petrol one is a 4.62 then you might find that geared way to low for what you want, I got my one from a Auto RB20 R31 but i have also removed other ratios from auto RB20 R31s as well. I just can't remember what.

I would be aiming for a 3.9 or a 4.1 if it was going to be for daily driving or prominently road use. It also depends on what engine you are using to push it to.

Yea cheers, sr20det, want around a 4 ratio because will be mainly on road with the odd track appearance, im not having much luck with the contact side of things with the guy im trying to buy one off otherwise id get him to pull it apart - might just search elseware.
Running a leone diff at the mo with what i believe is a 3.8 or 3.9 ratio and thats perfect for what i want.
