hi there,
what has happened.i got this 1977 nissan fairlady z same as the 260z which originally had a L20efi eng.someone fitted a L28 eng in it with modified cam, airflow meter has been worked on but still has L20 ecu.its got no cold start system also and has different throttle body.
problem started when i run out of gas two weeks ago but the fuel guage showing half a tank.got fuel in and wouldnt start.got plugs out its all filled up with fuel.clean plugs and crank eng, plugs back in again and starts up but only runs on high revs doesnt idle.
what went and got the L28 ecu, wiring loom, airflow meter, complete manifold from a 280zx which this guy was wrecking.
fitted everything in my car yesterday but no go.i have spark but no fuel pressure.but there original loom has an extra lug near the ecu which has power,i run a wire from where i get voltage to the fuel pump and i got the fuel pump going now but injectors not working.
there original loom of the car has 7 pin airflow meter and the 280zx has 5 pin.what i did,i use original loom of the car and 280zx ecu and airflow, still no go coz injectors not going.spray engine start thru the airflow it wents to fire up.fit the original airflow meter of the car it starts up but is missing.i didnt run it for long but will check my ht leads and plugs and see if it gets any better.
anyone has come across this problem or can help me out please.it will be great help.wouldnt make it too nizfest yesterday also...my badluck.
my last option is to fit carbs but will see if i can get the efi system working.my cell ph no is 0212625356 give me a text and i will call you if you can help me out.

cheers

Pretty sure the only difference in the air flow meters will be that the 7 pin one has an air temp sensor where the 5 pin one won't, shouldn't stop the car from running.

You can get the fuel injection manual from here:
http://www.xenons130.com/reference.html

Does the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on? What kind of oil pressure sensor is fitted? Do you have voltage at one pin of the injectors?

The L28 fuel injection is reasonable simple and you don't actually need to have a lot connected to get the car started, it may not run very well but it'll start.
