Hey guys I'm Nathan,
I'm a Datsun newbie
Owned Toyota's for the majority of my licensed life
So Hi guys
I recently purchased CUL8R's Gloria
Here's Chris's build thread
http://www.nzdatsun.com/forums/viewtopi ... 70&start=0
So I'm here to carry on his good work and bring this old girl back to its former glory.
I have no Real long term goals for it other than getting the panel and paint sorted, keeping it the original colour (Hoping to find out the original colour code).
Am planing on taking it on the Rakaia cruise so will hopefully see most of you there

Had a few wee problems with the old L20 (was warned about them)
Engine is running Rough at Idle and low RPM.
Have redone all the vacuum hoses and run some Injector cleaner through the old girl but to no avail.
other than that i cant think of anything else it could be.....any ideas on a remedy?
any help would be much appreciated
on the plus side fixed the guard rub!

have you cleaned the Air flow meter? checked all its conections are good/clean
With something this old its just a case of working your way along the chain and checking everything is in good condition

Have you done a TK test or compression test on the engine to be sure it's in good condition? If so then you may want to try running an ECU from the car that the L20E came out of, and/or put an electronic dizzy back on it (may require some fiddling to make the factory tacho read correctly).
Or hunt down another 330 series L20E and put that in.
Or go L28 with triples.

Or L28et from a 280zx.
Check compression and timing etc and any fault codes on the ecu if it has lights.

Sweet, thanks for the ideas guys. Will spend the the long weekend working through everything see if i can fix it! Fingers crossed
*Engine thoughts* I actually have been lining up a L20ET out of an R30 skyline, Will rebuild and slap that in her once the WOF runs out and/or when I can bring myself to stop driving her. I know the L20ET's not much of a powerhouse but I'm not really after a quick car just a cruiser! with a bit of "fun"
when I need it.
Will let you guys know how everything goes.
Cheers again!

That's my mates L20ET you've been asking about on Trademe. If I get a chance I'll try and get around there this weekend and try and get it started.

Cheers mate, that would be good if you could. Just want to make sure I have a half decent starting point for a rebuild so a runner would be good.
