I am looking for some Pre 79 L20A engines. However could be interested in L20ET also if someone who knows these better than I can tell me what the differences are.

What I know the differences to be.
L20A pre 79 = has the same big end bearings the L24/26/28 also has the same piston pin side of 21mm
L20ET and post 79 L20AE = has smaller big end bearing and a 19mm pin. The con rod is also 2mm longer.

Other differences is the head - L20A = E30 L20ET = O5L - anybody know the differences in these heads?

I could just grab a L20ET and strip one and learn if one of these could be used for a short stroke engine build with different rods.

please reply or PM if you can help.
Cheers
Mike

There's two types of L20ET, I think it's the earlier ones (R30) that have the bigger big ends and 9mm bolts (same as L28 etc), the later ones have a big letter (I think it's "A") cast on the block and they are the weaker type. The 430 Cedric motor I have I believe is one of the weaker type.

My old 3.1 had L20ET rods in it so I know they work :) The 05L head people have referred to as a good "blank" casting to start with, small ports so you can port them as you like and they have quite a small combustion chamber.

Dirty Leppa might have a spare L20et?
