Oil feed for turbo

Well ive finally decided to strip the L18E down and give it the going over ready for when my car one day returns from the paint shop. (don't tell your painter theres no rush).
Anyway im trying to figure out where to take my oil feed from for the T25. Should i like most internet suggestions say take a T off the oil pressure switch
or (which i like better)
use an adapter sandwich plate and take a feed from one of the 1/8 fittings that come standard on these things.
What i want to know is will 1/8" output from the sandwich plate have enough pressure and flow for my T25 turbo?
Are the 1/8" fittings before or after the filter??
Also for the water feed lines i was thinking taking the water feed from the lower radiator hosing (where the factory feed off is to the carbs on carb models) then returning it back to the top thermostat hosing below the thermostat.
Can anyone see any problems with that or have any other better ideas?
Thanks
Brett

Is there any flat section where you can drill and tap the block?

Not really that i can see.But i will look in more detail tonight. It would have to be directly into an oil gallery anyway and from what i have noticed on other engines, SR's anyway all the oil gallery are raised areas of the block.
I could enlarge the hole on the sandwich plate if need be im just not sure if 1/8" hole (which is how they come is large enough). I figure it should be large enough as thats all alot of oil pressure switches seem to be and people tap off them.

the bolts are before the oild filter on a sandwhich plate. 1/8 should be heaps, just make the oil return bigger like 1/2.

Sweet thanks for that,
Is that part before the filter still a high pressure area? I would assume so.
Only other area im thinking might be an issue is the water return from the turbo having to travel up hill to the top thermostat housing.
I'll prob take the water feed from the little metal plug thats screwed into the blow just behind and above the oil pressure sender. As this should be a high pressure area of the cooling system.
The feed from the lower hose area is before the pump so is only really getting water sucked past it by the pump drawing water into it.
Well thats how i view it anyway.
Any issues there that anyone can see???

1/2" is not even remotely big enough for an oil return line, you will end up with smoke pouring out the exhaust. Standard Nissan turbo oil return size is 3/4", use that. Make sure you use high temp hose, Gates makes a good one part #12GTH, Aeroquip do high temp push-lock as well. It needs to rely on gravity to drain into the sump, so don't kink it or make it try to go uphill as the oil comes out of the turbo all foamy.
For the feed, use 3/16" or 1/4" I.D.PTFE inner hose with a stainless braid, known as "R14" hose in the hydraulic world, or steel bundy tube. You could use the Speedflow or Aeroquip, Earls etc stuff but make sure it's PTFE inner and not rubber.
You may also need an oil feed restrictor if it's a roller bearing turbo.

Cheers very helpful information, for the the oil drain was going to be the same size as whats in my SR20 block i have sitting round i was going to use that as a base that was really the only one i was sure about.
Turbo is a normal old S13 T25 or if i find thats a bit small i have a GTiR turbo i could use.

Would the same advice go for a turbo on an a15?

for the return, yes.
A series dont have a sandwhich plate on the oil filter though. I once pulled an oil supply line off a 280zx(?) which appeared to be a factory type thing. And even that tee'd off the oil pressure sender.

Ive got a L20ET oil feed line hanging round somewhere and that tee off the oil pressure switch as well. Just thought there must be a better way so as soon as i buy a couple of other items for my car i'll get a sandwich plate and see how that will work.
