Have some R31 hubs i cut the disc and machined the outside off to fit inside gtst brake discs as per the usual path, However i suspect now I dont have enough room between the back of the wheel and the caliper .

Now i got to looking at the z31 turbo hubs i have which are really similar dimensionally but have the disc bolted to the back of the hub, but they are 5 stud.

Is there any hubs in 4 stud that are of similar design as these? That I could mount the disc on the back of with the chance of gaining a little offset?

cheers

How hard would it be to redrill 3 stud holes and convert your 5 stud Z31 to 4?

the actual application of it would be easy

But i doubt the cert man would be happy with it due the area of the hub casting being built up around the 5 studs

has anyone ever done it?

Early non turbo or VG20ET powered Z31 hubs should be 4 stud, or 280ZX hubs have the rotor bolted to the back of them from memory.

Looks like some 280zx ones might be the go

Cheers - Now to track a pair down to measure for size against the r31 ones.

910 Bluebird hubs have disc bolted to the back of hub may be more common than 280zx.

I don't know much about the 910 hubs but do they take the big bearings like the Z & R31 hubs? R30 hubs might be another one to look at, I can't remember if they have bolt on rotors but I have a feeling they do.

You can actually get Z31 4 Stud hubs, you wont be able to re drill a Z31 5 stud hub into a 4 stud, they way its cast won't allow it as there is not much meat in between hole centers.

If you get desperate I have a contact who would be willing to send out some Z31 NA 4 stud hubs.

S12 4 stud hubs also have a bolt on disc, that could be another option?

Edit/ they are also of a similar era to the Z31 so would be similar I'd imagine.
