Guys I am looking for a L28 ideally a N42 head and block combo or N42 heads.
I just dropped of my N42 head to the cylinder head shop and it was too soft = good for scrap that is all - been through too many heat cycles or just got really really hot once. This is the second head I have that has come up too soft over the years so I don't want to drop good coin again on engines that like these have been sitting a long time with unknown history. So if unknown then the price must reflect this as it could be just scrape value only like the one I have already
Ideally looking in Auckland as shipping will cost more than scrape value if they are too soft to.
I would recommend taking the soft head to heat treatments and get them to re harden it. Last time I got a quote it was fairly cheap, around $200 from memory.
Thanks for the tip, the soft head will be getting cut up to learn more about the internal design/water jackets as it had been planed on both top and bottom surfacess in it. So it had a hard life.
