I re kitted my brake master cylinder 3-4 years ago but as its been sitting a while the seals have clapped out again. I cannot seem to find a new master cylinder let alone a kit for these things. Its running a 240z 15/16 master cylinder and ive spent hours and can only find one ex USA but not with one of my suppliers.
What are people on here doing apart from re sleeving their cylinders which im not that keen to do and I think its way over priced to have done as I was quoted approx $250 - $300
cheers
Craig

1. Get more quotes on getting it resleeved. Is the bore actually bad or is it just seals?
2. Find another 2nd hand one, if it's a 15/16" it's probably an early 280ZX one.
3. Buy a new one from the States:

4. Change to a different more available size that will bolt straight on, 7/8" or 1" are common.
5. Change the booster or you might be able to remove the spacer if you are running one and use a master from a newer car, most of the S13/14/15/R32/33/R34/C33/34/35/A31 master cylinders are very similar in mounting and come in various sizes.

Option 4, what car would that come out of as I spent a solid hour at bnt the other day and they were that hopeless they didn't even stock a master cylinder for a r32 s13 s14 a31 etc let alone a 7/8 or 1" out of say a 510 or 180b etc or a seal kit for them, although bnt in hawkesbay would have to be the most arrogant pack of assh#*les I've delt with. I Striped the master tonight and it looks sweet so might just try match up some seals

I hae found a brand new 3/4 master cylinder for a 1600/510. A 1600 originally come out with a 3/4 master cylinder but i had a 15/16 on there to match the 4 pot alloy calipers in my car as the r32 skyline came out with a 15/16 master cylinder. What do you guys think about having a smaller bore cylinder on there and what will the pros and cons be.
I would imagine with it being smaller it will produce more pressure and maybe lock up the rears eisier and also i might have more travel on the pedal as im not shifting as much fluid as it already used to lock the rears with the 15/16 so my gut feeling is to go with 15/16 again if not 1''

If the 15/16th master gave your car a good pedal feel then I would definitely stick with that size.
Take your master into a good brake repair shop and they will be able to get the individual seals you need.
I know if you were in Wellington Id send you to Auto Brake and Clutch and they would sort it in a day.
Not sure who is the whizz workshop in Christchurch.

I used these guys when i was at BNT,
http://www.finda.co.nz/business/listing ... lutch-cbc/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ,
They were always good value for $$ and had a quick turnaround.
I agree with KK - if the pedal feel is right - rebuild that one.

I reakon it's never felt right, I've always felt the brakes should have been better for what they are and had more punch to them which made me think I needed a smaller master to gain more pressure but they already used to lock the rears and going smaller would only lock them more

If it's locking the rears up first it's probably going to be a bias problem or something to do with the size of the brakes back versus front?
Did you try adjusting the booster push rod prior to it leaking?

Or not bled properly
and brakes will have more "feel" because you are using a smaller booster
