I have just purchased a lovely '73 Datsun 1200 - only to find I can't get it warranted, due to aftermarket un certified seat belts.
My mechanic has suggested finding factory original ones, and getting them put in will be easier and cheaper than putting in new ones, and getting the car certified. Any help/advice most appreciated!

Welcome Lady Cashmere, I am sure there is someone on here that can help.
Just wanting to clarify, this is the front belts you are looking for?
Some pics of your car would be great, start up a ride thread, we'd all love to see it.

Vaughan Coupes dont have rear seat belts from the factory AFAIK
But they do have the threaded bosses in the body for easily fitting them.
I have a pair of front seat belts from my coupe, that I could possibly part with, as I will be putting new belts in mine front & rear (and I am getting car certified, so no big deal)
I will dig them out and see what they are like

I would be forever in your debt Kitch!
Seems like someone thought it was a good idea to install retractables at some stage. Upside down... I'm not entirely sure how this was never picked up before.
I have attached the only picture I have at this stage, Myrtle went straight to the mechanic when I got her. So this lovely snap has my head on the body of the previous owner
Once she is on the road we have plans for a proper photoshoot.

Thats a slick looking coupe there lady, look forward to see you posting up some more pic's on a thread for it.
Will see if I can find time to dig round my boxes of parts over weekend in between consuming copious amounts of alcohol and easter eggs ...

Much appreciated. Myrtle is currently residing at Juniors Kustom Rides, awaiting some other forms of treatment as well.
Does anyone know much about how the changes in models affected the seatbelts? My mechanic has suggested that there were a few changes in the time ole' Myrtle was built, so need to make sure I get the right ones.
Cheers everybody

It depends on what year. The later 1200 sedans had a stork coming you from the floor, the early ones had fabric from the floor, these were a pain as it would always get lost on the back floor.
I have a compleat set of set belts for you.

Interesting about the different models. My 72 coupe has the fabric type!
