U13 Bluebird Alternative Brake Upgrade For 1200?
Posted: Mon Apr 22, 2013 3:06 pm
After spending a few hours at pickapart this afternoon measuring brake disk sizes/bolt hole locations/ ga16de bits(unrelated).
I apologize in advance for my poor descriptive talents.
I have guesstimated since eventually the s13 silvia brakes will run out of cheap convenience, and u13 bluebirds are a plenty and cheap enough. why not.
if someone can make me the adapter plate i need il run them and anyone else can too if bart can sort out adapters, or i can, whichever.
I dont know if any master cylinder changing is required but i guess it would be the same as the s13 conversion.
Sooooo........
*Non turbo front s13 disk is 252mmx20mm ish thick
*Front u13 disk is about 250mm +or-1mm x20mm ish thick.
*Same pcd 4x114.3.
*same slipover style/u13 is ever so slightly lighter.
*Same 100mm between centre of calliper bolt holes.
*The hub will still require machining for these.
*You will still need longer wheel studs
*Since i dont understand single pots/2pots/4pots etc etc i cant say what this type of calliper is sorry, it is bigger than the s13 one in LENGTH ONLY. i.e. length between .....pistons? .... is more spaced out.
*All other nessesary spacings work out. example is gap between disk and adapter plate with u13 calliper is perfectly the same etc.
REAR u13 disk is a direct slip over of standard non machined 1200 hub.......im 99.99% sure.
*This disk is not vented and only about 12mm thick (forgot to measure overall edge to edge but VERY similar to the fronts, just basically half the thickness)
*the calliper has a bolt hole spacing from centre to centre of about 125mm ish (roughly measured so give or take 5mm sorry)
*Since i dont understand single pots/2pots/4pots etc etc i cant say what this type of calliper is sorry.
*This is still an upgrade on the stock disk and i assume calliper of the 1970s era as the standard 1200 disk measures in at 212mmx9mm and u13 is a fair bit bigger.
*An adapter would need to be made for this too.
*Not sure on wheel studs
Hope this helps someone out at some point, and if someone knows someone etc who can make me an adapter then id be really stoked.
thanks.
