fuel injector weld on boss

Post by 2 doors »

Does anyone know where I might obtain a steel boss that I can weld to an inlet manifold to take in injector nozzle?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Speedflow-14mm- ... 2a&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Or ring Greenlane Speed Shop to see if theirs (also made by Speedflow) are cheaper.

I think you would be struggling to get steel ones, as most intake manifolds are alloy.

You can get steel ones from http://www.rossmachineracing.com/steeli ... bungs.html but it's a piece of round stock with some holes in it, I'd ask someone with a lathe to whip one up. Zac and I just bought a fuel rail drill bit from there which I think can be used for the bosses as well?

I got my alloy ones & my dash 6 fuel rail in from Ross's in the states.

But Wal they are nothing tricky. find some one with a lath to get the right size round bar or pipe & machine the 14.2mm dia x 12mm deep (or whatever it is) in the ends.

looks like the lathe will be the go, most people I know are tool makers, etc, and my brother works as a tool maker and can spark erode anything to a tolerance of like a tenth of the thickness of a human hair, in case people are wondering, it will be easyr for me to fab the intake out of steel, before giving it to greg to anodize , Thanks kitch for the sizes, im still confused as to how the injectors don't just get fired out of the boss under the pressure of the fuel.

Big bolts holding the fuel rail down is usually what keeps them in there :)

lol, I thought that might be the case but sort of seemed primitive, I guess simple is best after all.

anaodizing is for alloy only Wal, If you do a steel one you can get it zinc'd or chromed
I would do alloy if you can, being non cross flow motor a steel intake manifold is going to suck up alot of heat. Though chroming it would help
