fj20e - turbo

Hey all
i just bought a dr30 skyline and im planning on mounting a turbo to the fj20e. (wanting to be different and been told these engines run well on high compression and can be quite a bit of fun)
Im going to run it in the skyline for a wee while until i perfect it and then transfer it to my datsun180sx.
Has anybody done this?
So far ive bought..
-Fj20et manifold and t3 turbo with dump pipe
-500hp internal walbro fuel pump
-Small 40psi max intercooler
-Stock fj20et 370cc injectors
Now ive done my research and i know im going to have to tap my exhaust studs out to 10mm because the n/a engines are only 8mm.
But im looking at buying a oil filter relocation kit.

Is this my best option??
If so ill buy it and move on to buying a version 2 megasquirt ECU, this will be after i get my exhaust system re done to 2.5'' right through to the front passenger seat.
If anybody has any advice or tips im open to opinions and guidance.
Never turbd a n/a engine before! but theres a first time for everything!

best advice I could give would be, :useless: post up some pics of what your doing, maybe move this to the members rides section, sounds like its going to be awesome, have to love an fj with a turbo.
megasquirt should work well, although there is a rumour that its hard to get anyone to tune them on a dyno, so you may need to check that out depending on how you were planning on doing the final tune, I bought one myself and will tune it with a bit of help from some on here.

Have you been to fj20.com?
I don't know much about FJ's (Except that they're AWESOME!)

not many helpful blokes on there usually, they treat everything like its top secret or something...

i'll see if i can find the build thread, there was a guy who built a very solid fj20e+t in a 610 180b sedan ages ago in aussie.

havent done it myself either, but i do have 3 turbo and 2 non turbo FJ20 engines now. if you need any comparisons etc, let me know.

well at least now we know where all the fj engines in the world have gone lol, Id be happy with 1 fj motor, let alone 5, its a wonder people don't think your on happy pills, as you must have a constant smile on your face

Thanks for the feedback all! I was planning on doing a build thread for this with photos step by step but I'm trying to gather as much information as possible before turbing the fj. I've been to fj20.com and there was no help what so ever lol the only useful information I got was to check the engine thoroughly before going ahead with modifications, possibly new gaskets etc etc because one guy did what I plan to do and blew his main bearings shortly afterwards, and that was only running 10psi! Hopefully that never happens to me lol either that or I look into getting some aftermarket bearings? Guessing they're a hard find though.. Other than that I've looked over the 2 engines specs and in comparison everything's relatively the same as the et engine apart from some smaller components and high compression ratio! I'm still looking into buying the megasquirt 2 and installing it because it's BIG bucks buying anything else and I'm impatient haha after that I'm thinking of paying rapid performance in timaru for my dyno tune, here's hoping they can tune my ecu there! Also if you could find that link of the build thread of the datsun with the fj20e+t that would be awesome! (:
