Im after some ideas of what would work well and sound nice n raspy for a worked A15, and also ideas on where the best place to get the work done in chch area.
Already got headers on it.
Ive heard 2 1/4" with just a couple of coby style louvered reasonators (cant remember exact size or location of cobys) is all good.
I was quoted $350 today for 2 1/4" pipe with a "super turbo" muffler installed just before diff. I had suggested the use of dual cobys but he recomended the use of the super turbo muff as it would increase the exhaust gas velocity where as the cobys would slightly decrease the velocity.
I got the quote from Hornby Exhaust, Leigh Murray. Seemed like a straight up dude and had some trick big dollar hotrod builds in the shop gttn wkd on when i stopped by.
Interested to hear what others have/ or are guna get.
Cheers,
Joel

2'' is the best bet for a worked a15.
Sizing for Performance
A large diameter exhaust pipe is needed for maximum high-rpm horsepower. However, a small diameter pipe is needed for low-rpm horsepower. So you can see that a properly sized pipe -- not too big or too small -- is advantageous
Stock 68/69 horsepower A12: 1-1/2"
modded A-series engine: 1-3/4"
Max fuel econdomy: 1.5"
100 hp engine: 1.75"
125 hp engine: 2"
200 hp engine: 2-1/4"
2.5 inch works too, but results in less HP than 1.75 inch pipe

I have no idea what is the best for a worked A15. But my A12 (which is a sss motor) is running a 2". And does go really hard and sounds great.
It was custom made at an exhaust shop in Dunedin a few years back.
You are welcome to pop over Joel and I can take you for a burn some time.
Or over this weekend at Hanmer cruise.

So thats 3 votes for 2".
I may make it to the park up b4 the hanmer cruise heads out but i need to sort a few things b4 i take it out for such a big stress.
Its still running the A12 radiator for the mo, gauge seems to stay at an even 75 deg but id like to get a larger item in place. Still gettin quite a bit of condensation in the rocker cover after a few clean outs and couple oil and filter changes; im using 15w 40 oil- duno if im jst gttn used to it but it felt like there was a drop in power after i did the 1st oil flush additive and change. And rear brake shoes need doin asap... aswell as my tie-wired exhaust
