habitz 510 toy

Post by habitz »

thought i'd start a build thread for my latest frivolous expense.....or so i'm told!
Pretty stoked to get a 510 after wanting one for a while. :D :D

Image
should be nestled in it's new home in auckland on wednesday.

It's an original '72 black plate car. It's been through a few different hands obviously and at some stage had a CA18DET swap done. I assume matching g/box etc.

My plan is to get it on the road so i can have a play thing while the 240Z is coming along. Then maybe take it off the road for a major overhaul.

Body is pretty good with only one rear dogleg needing attention and a few bubbles here and there but overall paint is good. Painted in a 2 pak in good shape

Interior has had some fiddling too. I'd like to return it to something closer to stock with maybe some recaros. I think the factory did a good job on these early cars so why play with it to much.
Door panels have been covered in vinyl. A new set is in the works already. Replace the rough wheel with a sportline. etc etc. nothing fancy

I'll try and do updates regularly.

Cheers to all. and if you do know any info on the history of this car post it up.

Well i think the october thing will be out of the question....
It's arrived and it's what i would i expect from a bit of a car thats been through a few hands and not done properly at any stage...it's a bit it rough around the edges!

Nothing major really but it really needs most things looking at.

Looks to have an R200 in it - bonus.
Motor runs but has a manifold leak and smell of gas.
G/box has been rebuilt from looks of receipts
Brand New avanti wheels and tires.
Body is showing some signs of age but pretty good. Clean up for the moment.
Interior - column is missing all the surround etc. I see one on trademe.
No brakes - in theory need bleeding or just upgrade.
Suspension - hard as nails!

Nothing lots of money and more time wont fix ay!!

I'll try dig out that AA report if you like?
At least you have a 510 now. And it sounds like it has all the bones of a sweet sweet car.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............
