Absolute tradgedy in my oppinion.
Yes it will be great to see it racing again, but how many World Rally winning cars exist in the condition they completed the event in. Most cars complete the event and return to the workshop for a strip down and rebuild before the next round.
This car is a very unique piece of history and cherished as is. It loses some of its authenticity if it comes out restored.
Hopefully I am wrong and and restoration means retain the damage if finished with and making it mobile so it can be more than a static display.

I feel a bit cheated by this

the whole point of that car being in "original as raced condition" is that it isn't restored like all the other museum pieces

Its supposed to be old and munted, they could have built a replica and had a before and after thing going on.
