I am helping out a GC I know by finding and fitting a 5spd for his A15 powered 1200/roadstar ute..

Sorry I should have done more investigation about the vehicle but I am not sure if it is currently column shift or floor shift -It is mega stock other than an A15 transplant though..

Owner of the ute said there is something specific about the gearboxes for these vehicles.

Can anyone tell me what sort of gearbox I should be looking for or has someone got one I can buy from them?

Cheers guys

1200's are all floor change. There are 4 different 5 speeds for the A series motors.
56A, hard to find, easy to break and hard to fix. Came in both 1:1 5th, and overdrive 5th.
60L dogleg 5 speed. (came from A14 powered round headlight sunnys.
60A H pattern 5 speed. Came from square headlight sunnys. Both good gearboxes, providing they are in good condtion.
63A came fron USDM B210's. (I think) biggest and strongest of the A series 5 spds. these boxes here hydraulic clutches.

Are 1200's factory hydraulic or cable clutch?

I have done some research at it seems the 60a is the gearbox I want..

I have asked this on datsun.co.nz but anyone want to sell a 60a gearbox to me.

Prefer to pay a bit more for a decent condition one rather than a cheap rebuilder..

Cheers
