SSS cars were built from a kit,CKD where parts were changed prior to assembly. Coupes were CBU, completely built up.
Mates dad worked for Nissan back in the day in Auckland and claims there was one coupe SSS built and even quotes the regs number. I don't know the story behind the car, but according to him there was one, but one only.

I am sure the theorists will disagree, however they did build two 1200 SSS spec coupes in NZ. Had basically the same stuff as a 1200 SSS sedan, i.e. 40mm dellortos, etc. I think one was blue, and the other red. My father had the red one for a number of years and raced and rallied it in the south island. He finds it hard to admit that he sold it for reasons other than stupidity.

Dennis Marwood could tell you all about them I am sure, given he ran the project for Nissan in NZ

Looks like its a fact rather than fiction. cool story, shame it got sold on, have you ever put the rego into car jam to see if its still about?

I did check on the coupe ergo on car jam but seems to be a thing of the past. Was GP6077 in case someone has it in their shed de-regd. the old man would love it back if it did still exist!
