I was scoping the net on my "day off" and stumbled accross this website. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catal ... ucts_id=56" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Some cool stuff on there, was thinking that it probably wouldnt be all that hard to engineer some to suit a 3x2 cv bolt pattern, would make a cv conversion much easier to do.

Yeah a guy I sold a 1600 shell to a while ago did the same thing. No idea how well the welds would hold up but his look a bit better than the ones on that site;

Yeah well worth looking into imo.

that wouldn't be that hard to make I reckon.

Not at all, and with an abundance of the 4 bolt uni flanges would be a piss of piece of piss. hard part would be the welding id say.

The welding would be a piece of piss. I'm no engineer, but I'd say having the uni flange recessed slightly into the flange would be a good idea.

Even if you also drill the 4 holes for the uni flange into the CV flange and bolt it before welding would give extra support.

Why bother welding that, if you going to make something like that up, why not just make the whole thing as one unit?

exaclty
John can machine splines on CV axles.....so im sure he could machine an internal spline aswell (just may take a little longer....and convincing)

Cost versus effort though. If you can make a flange that bolts to the existing, then just requires a small weld, worth going that direction.

The weak point on those rear ends is the actual shaft on the hub, so they would most likely snap before these.

Later model nissans had the 35mm inner which tapers up from 30mm, HR31 for example (as opposed to the 30mm-30mm stock 510/610 rear hubs).
