Hi guys.

I have finally after a month of waiting put my A15 into my 1200. But i have one problem.. I have never installed a distributor from scratch. And to make things harder for my self my crank pulley wheel has no timing marks. any body feel as if they could give me a step by step run down on how to install this then that would be great.. Also the general wiring is all over the show are there any good threads about wiring it all up..

Finally how do identify what type of diff i have i need a h150 at least but im worried i have an h145.

Remove the rocker cover, and number one spark plug.
Stick a screw driver, or something similar into the spark plug hole. Wind the motor over slowly, and wait for the screw driver to rise up, and them stop. Mark the front pulley.
Then wind the motor over backwards. When the screw driver stops rising up, make another mark on the pulley.
Halfway between these two marks is TDC. Get a hacksaw or some suck, and make a permanent mark on the pulley.
Then wind the motor over untill you hit TDC, after the inlet valve has closed. Now install the dizzy with the rotor pointing to one of the points in the cap. Be aware that as you fit the dizzy, the rotor will rotate slightly, due to the helix on the dizzy gear. So it may take a couple of goes. Then remove the rotor button, and look closely at the points. twist the dizzy body fore and aft, and tighten the retaining screw down when the dizzy is in the position when the points are just about to open. Maybe even use a multimeter to test the circuit, as it will be more accurate than the eye.
Slap the rotor and cap back on. and put the leads on. Number one being the spot where the rotor is pointing, then the rest 1,3,4,2, going in an anti clockwise direction.
That's how I'd do it.
