Does anyone know whats needed to put a H165 from a 1200 ute into a 1200 coupe? The coupe has a A15 and 5 speed if that matters? I've had a look on the net but theres no real straight forward answer?!

It will bolt straight in, providing you have the ute U-bolts and base plates. (The axle tube is a larger diameter on the H165)
you will also need to have your driveshaft shortened too.

cool thanks, yep have the u-bolts etc. Do you know if the ute d/shaft will fit or does the d/shaft still need to be shortened?

i thought ute drive shaft fitted straight in, but unless I positioned my engine in wrong place,
my ute drive shaft I purchased, I got balanced and painted was too long :(

I ended up shortening up an H150 auto one out of a 120Y, and welding a new gearbox spline end on it

Cheers Kitch,

Will see if the ute one matches up if not then i'll just have to shorten it

perhaps google the difference in wheelbase between the sedan/coupes and utes, if ute has longer wheelbase then drive shaft will be longer.

In a perfect world, you'll also fit coupe, or sedan rear wheel cylinders too.
