Dellortos as Throttle Bodies??

Post by Naki-Fisher »

Hi All
I am thinking of making boss up to weld to a twin carb manifold that will have a boss for the injector and also a stub/boss for mounting the fuel rail. following this 4 extra bosses for the vacuum hoses.

I am Just wondering if any of you have ever used a set of Dellortos as TB's? or know of anyone who has?
I have Goggled it and have struggled to find anything.

No reason they couldn't be made to work.
BUT, they aren't cheap!
You'd likely be better off selling your carbs, and adapting 4AG ones instead.
They don't call me the man with the rubber arm for nothing you know.............

Buying DCOE pattern throttle bodies (OER, EFI Hardware etc) would be another idea but as Bart says 4AGE ones are cheaper and I think you can buy adaptors to bolt them on to a DCOE pattern manifold.

Thanks Guys
I have a couple of sets of Dellortos
Issue I see even with the 4AGE TBs is you still have to mount the injectors.
I'd love to run Injection Perfection or EFI hardware ones but when you add it up TB's $1400-$1800 for a Kit, then $12-1400 for a Link/etc computer it quickly adds up.
I realize this is not going to be cheep what ever I do but as a starting point I am weighing up options and happy to hear advice, options and opinions on this.

I have spoken with Kitch who said if he was to do it again he'd go EFI Hardware TB's, so that got me thinking about using the dellortos as anyone with a twin carb set up could easily follow suit.
I have my manifold at work with my and first idea of a double bosses is out the window as the runner angles screw it up.
Think I'll model the manifold up in SW and start again.

What ever I do I will take photos and do a write up for the forum.
