NZ Datsun Nationals Grasskhana Saturday 25th October
Posted: Mon Sep 08, 2014 9:33 pm
The past two years the NZ Datsun club has been fortunate enough to secure a twilight session at Ruapuna, as part of our nationals. Unfortunately due to noise constraints, and complaints from neighbours The Canterbury Car Club is no longer able to offer us this option. And all other track booking time slots which fitted with the program for this weekend had already been booked.
So this year we're having a grasskhana in lieu of a track session.
The last one we had was a blast, and even the guys with standard cars can be quite competitive too!
The details are as follows,
Meet The Peg (Belfast Tavern, main north road) at 9:00am
From here we'll be heading to a location at West Eyreton. (Near oxford) It's around 35-40 mins drive, so be sure to have enough fuel. directions to the location will be given on the day. (If you expect to miss the meet up, and need directions, pm me for the details)
The format for the day will be as follows,
We will be running two groups simultaneously. One will be "the cloverleaf" And the other will be "ever decreasing circles". each contestant will run through one activity, then move to the next. depending on numbers on the day, we'll cycle through at least three timed runs each on each of the two circuits.
Then we'll break for lunch.
The NZ Datsun club will be having a sausage sizzle. Sausages + onions with sause, and some soft drinks will be available. So be sure to bring some money. There are no shops anywhere close by.
After lunch, we're going to run the courses in reverse. "Inverse clover leaf", and "ever increasing circles".
After everyone has completed at least three timed runs of each circuit, (Again depending on numbers on the day) we'll set up a slalom course around the periphery of the field where the grasskhana is being held.
Cost is $5 per driver for NZ Datsun Club financial members, and $10 per driver for non members.
This year the Christchurch city council has doubled what they charge us to use the Akaroa Recreation Area for the Nationals weekend cruise, so proceeds from the grasskhana will be put towards covering the cost of using the rec area on the Sunday.
